ORIGINAL: Elefant
its been about 6 months (or more) I see this ad on the net....I do not even know whats this sale site (Bay?? where's the E )...but for $3000 it has to be complete and bloddy well built !!! It is almost the price of a kit in box (well....if we could know the exact value of such a kit...but I saw few going for 3000 to 4000 bucks)

RE: IMAI Elefant
Thanks Elefant,
It has taken a lot of trail and error to get the kinks out but it works well and is lots of fun to command on the field.
It has just had some more upgrades done(again) to the track drives and continues to improve.
Regards

RE: IMAI Elefant
I'm not positive but based on the location of the Craig's list entry I may know who the seller is. I don't know him personally but I may know of him. If it is who I believe he pursued this and othet models for years then as I recall bought a full size military truck which required most of his focus. I believe he's been trying to sell this model for some time. I may well be wrong about all this of course. The asking price is far too much for any Elefant unless someone just doesn't know what to do with their money.
The stated information of Imai being absorbed into Tamiya is incorrect as well as the myth of missing or damaged molding equipment. I believe the myth of damaged molds was fostered to enhance the cachet of a "never to be reproduced model",
and ostensibly its prestige and value.. The information that Aoshima purchased most or all of Imai's assets was told me quite a few years back. To my knowledge Aoshima is a wholly independant comapny from Tamiya. I did see something on their Englisg new release page That I'm posting in a new thread.
It's all a matter of demand of course but sooner or later somebody will remake the model assuming a market assessment
proves profitability.
