WSN T34 and M1A2 Abrams with Elmod
Hello
I've just placed the Elmod electronics in my 1/16 WSN T34 and 1/16 Hobby Engine M1A2 Abrams . I used three modules
1. Think Tank Booster
2. Think Tank TLS
3. Think Tank Blaster
The tank is moving very smoothly and the sound is "real" and has very good quality /much better than HL RX-14/. Special sound modul (Blaster) generates up to 8 sound of differents tanks (they can be choosen by setting of special jumpers). Examples of (WWII or modern) tanks sounds are available on website. Each sound can be transfered to the sound modul and modified by user using PC. The Blaster's sounds are stored in MicroSD card and could be modified using PC card reader . More informations can be found on ELMOD website /English version is available too/

Nice job [sm=thumbup.gif]
Are you going to replace the running gear?
With a little work you can fit HL Pershing gearboxes and tracks, I've done it with my hobby engine leo2-a5 and it's worth the effort.
Cheers

Thank You for both posts !
Of ourse I'm very interesting in improving driving skills in my Hobby Engine Abrams - its left and right track are moving not equal.
But I need help - could You provide me with detailed information/photos? how to use HL Pershing gearboxes and tracks in my Abrams? and Where can I buy it? Are the tracks dimensions suitable for my Abrams?

That is a link to the Abrams tracks and sprockets. Kinda spendy though. I believe Kenny Kong makes them.

RE: WSN T34 and M1A2 Abrams with Elmod
Thank You
is it possible to use plastic HL tracks instead of metal one? /pair for one M1A2 track?/
are the HL Pershing gearbox and track suitable for my Abrams only? can I use from the Bulldog?
HLM26TRKS Replacement Plastic Tracks
http://www.tankzone.co.uk/cart/hl_m26.htm
or maybe another type would be suitable?
and

RE: WSN T34 and M1A2 Abrams with Elmod
Hi,
Firstly, I can't believe the sudden interest in upgrading Hobby Engine tanks. This is the third post on the subject.
Anyway, I've just completed upgrading my HE Leo-A2 to HE Boards and running gear and I'm very pleased with the outcome.
Here's a link to my build thread: [link=http://www.rctankwarfare.com/Forums/index.php/topic,175.0.html]HE Leo2 Upgrade[/link]
Hope this is of some help.
Cheers

RE: WSN T34 and M1A2 Abrams with Elmod
Thank You John for the help and instructions in "HE Leo2 Upgrade"
I modified M1A2 Abrams in the similair way using HL gearboxes and motors + HL Pershing plastic tracks and driving wheels (metal is too expensive)
I also made some little changes in the front wheel.
Now the tank moves more smoothly.
I think that the Hobby Engine M1A2 is good as the base model for the further upgrades. Its painting and detaling are quite good.
I have a little problem - how to connect the recoil switch in Hobby Engine M1A2 to the Elmod electronics
I tried to use Pin 8 of the P2 connector in TLS module ( as it was in WSN T34 conversion) . In WSN T34 conversion the pin 8 of connector 2 is for the switch which is closed when the barrel reaches the inner most position. This information is necessary to switch the motor off in the right time so the barrel returns in the correct position. This function is only when the Booster is jumpered to T34 mode
I connected one end of the switch to the pin 8 and the second (via 300 ohm resistor) to:
1. ground 0V
2. power supply +7.2V
but there was no effect , the gun/recoil motor was still supplied (when the switch was closed) and during the
gun fire the barrel recoils twice /should once/
Is there any pull up resistors needed for pin 8 , maybe it is sensitive not on level of the voltage but on the edge (falling/rising) ?
How to solve this problem.

RE: WSN T34 and M1A2 Abrams with Elmod
Hi, glad to see you upgraded your Abrams, The difference it makes is well worth the effort.
I like your mod to the front idlers, I will be doing that myself.
Another little mod you might want to try is attaching HL PzIII shockers ( or equivalent ) to the first and last road wheels. It improves track tension and ride.
I have no experience with el-mod equipment so I can't help with your recoil problem,
but I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to help.
Cheers

I got mine off ebay, needs a lot of work to bring it up to spec detailing wise.
The T55 is being made by a firm called, Hooben.
Here's a link to their site :- [link=http://www.hooben.com/]Hooben[/link]

Sorry John, my English is not good, I don't know what it is (HL PzIII) "shockers" I couldnt find it for example in TankZone.
Could You tell me a little more about this item? (are the any HL catalogue numbers?)
P.S.
By the way, I bought my HE M1A2 1/16 Abrams as "Graupner 90037" (at the bottom is written: Made in China , Hobby Engine, Model no 0817)- there are sometimes available on German ebay or internet shops under this name.
