Default Show me your Panzer IV F2's

Hi all. Picked up one of these and I'm wondering if I should really get into detaiing it or wait for one of the new upcoming releases. I'm sure a few of you have done them by now. YHR? Would you mind posting some pic's of them? I'm looking for inspiration. Upgrade parts for them seem pretty slim comparred to the PIII. How do they run?

I have detailed the F1 and I'm satisfied with it. A lot of work to do to have an acceptable appearance, but after doing that it's a nice tank and a nice runner.

Mine is still in the box. Well, it's going to be an F2, it's an F right now. They make adjustable idlers, recoil units, various sized guns and such for them. Tracks are same as PZIII just more links.

The front sprocket and idlers need to be adjusted to proper heights and those mods have been well documented and would be easy for you to do. There was a fella on the german forums who meticulously detailed his and documented it, I can send you the photos or link if I still have it.

Mine ran great, I didn't get to run it in rough conditions but the suspension looked better than previous HL attempts. Since the PZ IV was the backbone of the German tank effort you can find all kinds of interesting stories and fronts it served on. I am reading a book right now written by a Canadian who was sent to Germany by his father in the early '30's and ends up conscripted into the Panzer corps. So far he has detailed the training, methods of aiming and using the optics in a PZ IV, and his first engagements on the eastern front. It would seem the pz IV did quite well against the better armored but less sophisticated T34. ( i am referring to the fire control, communications, crew and training ). He will eventually be transferred into a jagd PZ IV, I am eager to get to that part of the book. I also bought 3 pz IV's so I can do such a conversion later.

heres my recent thread of my PzIV F2 repaint and detail [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8188310/tm.htm]PZIV repaint[/link]. I'm also almost done upgrading it for I/R battle, just a couple mounting things left. My guide for that was just completed today with lots of pics of a PZIV f2 and resides on the rccommand site...[link=http://www.rccommand.com/guides/upgrade.php]rx18 upgrade[/link]

I really like this tank, airsoft gun shot the best of all my HL tanks and it seems sturdy and runs great. It also looks super and was the first HL tank to convince me to do a real paint job on.

just working on a Panzer IV Ausf F1 with winter camo. It's looking good. I'm hoping to get winterketten from RcCommander to finish it off.

Yes, I wish I had taken a template. It was quite easy. Just a little though and some reference pics. I used plasticcard for the armour skirt and brass for the supports. Small brass bolts and screws to secure it together.

Hi Thomasjohnmurphy!

I've just got the same barrel and muzzle as you and is working on coverting my F1 to F2 as well.

But here's a question for you. Hope you can help me out - The barrel and muzzle don't seems to fit a Ausf G. More likely for an early H or J. What do you think?

I made my barrel by lathing down a madbull inner barrel and picked up a muzzel brake off ebay. I used a plastic sleeve for the second layer of the barrel. I made it the proper length of a G as an H verson length barrel would require too many changes to the F1 hull.
