HI524, did you pursue the plan of installing the Sport Tuned RS-540 motors in your HL Leo2A6? I'm looking to upgrade the speed and torque of my HL Leo2 but I know next to nothing on doing such modifications. I'm after it running at realistic/scale speed with the current Mato metal tracks installed. Thanks in advance.
The Tam 2A6 electronics can drive any 540 motor tuned or otherwise, I installed tuned 33T and 27T without any issues, even a 550 size will run fine though fitting that one may be a challenge since its longer and butts against the speakerbox.

Don't know about the HL capacity.

Older Elmod TankModule ECO/PRO or new Elmod Fusion ECO/PRO can drive 540 type motors without problems. In addition new Elmod Fusion with firmware v. 1.02 or newer can drive 540 motors with Tamiya Leopard 2A6 type gearboxes. It have also possibility to set up the motor PWM switching frequency up to 5kHz (its higher than in Tamiya modules) - higher frequency , more smooth running.

yup atcttge. the sport tuned rs 540 was a little too fast. I revised to torque tuned RS-540 and i used t2000 dual motor esc. The HL stock multifunction unit can't handle the amps for the 540's. Those boards get fried easily when using 540's.

wsn123 - sounds interesting... where can i get this Elmod Fusion ECO/PRO? how does it compare to sabertooth dual motor ESC's? I'm thinking of upgrading my ESC too. might be good to fit in the new HL abrams.

HI524, I've seen the T2000 ESC on ebay and I'm mightily tempted to get it. Got a guide on how to install 540s and T2000 to the HL Leo2A6?

Instructions usually come with the kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Motor-T...-/131333806150

this esc only handles the motors. for the turret function and the lights you have to connect to another multifunction unit. i used the tk22 from clark.
but there are other options. wsn123 has a link to ELMOD fusion pro. you might want to check it out too.

Basically the T2000 ESC is connected between TK22 & motors?

I read somewhere in this board that the T2000 does NOT work with HL's RX18. Is that still correct to this day?

separate connection.
tk22 for turret and lights(all other functions except the motors) via 2.4ghz rcvr
t2000 for 540 motors only via another 2.4ghz rcvr but controlled by same RC transmitter
5000mah batt for t2000
800mah batt for tk22

its complicated. the Elmod fusion pro might be a better solution though.

Thanks. I got the idea. I think I can do that with one receiver.
