Default M4 SHERMAN DOZER RC... in action!

These pics were sent to me from a member of my rc tank club.
It's a Tamiya Sherman equipped with a working dozer blade.
The blade can be moved up and down, and can be used to clean your terrace from snow
I have asked for a video too, hope he will find the time to shoot one.

In the meanwhile, enjoy some pics

That is a very fine model. Very realistic and great weathering and battle damage. That's what a combat vehicle should lookl like. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I really like that. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I was going to use the cannon bbl to lift the blade though. I wonder how this guy gets the blade to go up and down???? It is not clear to me in the pictures.

WOW!! I really love it and it works too! This looks like it came straight from a WWII photograph!

Thanks for sharing!

The number 2 photo shows wiring coming out near the mounting at the second suspension unit, probably going to that actuator in the number 1 photo. Pretty slick set up.

A technical description directly from Luca, the builder:

The “ M4/105 Dozer “ has been an own made upgrade with a bulldozer basically made by Al / copper and plastic card machined using just simple tools ( NO automatic milling cutter or lathe ) like drill and sandpaper etc... but with very high level accurate details .

The automatism was created using a standard Tamiya planetary gearbox set which pulls up and down a mechanical piston through a stainless steel wire ; the entire mechanism is mounted inside the tank and only the wire pass through the bottom of the tank as in the realistic actions.

The RC command has been done using the turret control stick which is switched ( used a RC micro SW ) to a simple speed controller which drives the planetary gearbox motor , so a 5 CH radio is needed

I’m available for further details

Kind regards
luca

Very cool...but the video was way too short. More snow pushing!

Actually, I'd like to see that Sherman pushing a burned out Tiger off a dirt road, but this was neat too.

One thing though....I think the blade needs far more weathering judging from the wear and tear evident on the tank itself - these tanks were used to push off wrecked tanks and other equipment. That abuse should be evident more on the blade surface- I think there would be almost no paint left, only bare metal. Of course, I don't know if the crew for one of these tanks would paint the blade periodically so as to not give away position from a light flash on bare metal.

But that is just my opinion, and that's only because I have to find some flaw - I am so jealous of this tanker's skill in fabricating such a great working variation!

Nice, very nice.

Wonder if the planetary drive for the blade is strong enough to lift the front end of the tank?

Get some winter tracks and it would truely be awesome!

The dozer blade will not reflect any real damage unless the lower edge happens to "locate" a mine. This would normally just take a chunk out of the bottom. The blade at that point is a good 6-8 iches thick and very tough. (The dozer and mech on the M-48 weighed nearly 4 tons.) The dozer is painted as much as needed to keep it from becoming a mirror , but the lower portion will nearly always be clear of any paint and looking clean. Here's my dozer In "Camp" Irwin Ca 1959
