This is one of the few things you've said in several years that I totally agree with.
I believe that Tamiya has tipped it's Sherman RC hand with the NEW 1/35 RC Sherman release and a Normandy 75mm Sherman 1/16 f/o version will soon follow.
I will wait to the end of the year, before considering any purchase, as I am enjoying the Tamiya Pz4 build and now seriously repainting my Tamiya Panther G, so I have enough tank projects to keep me happy. LOL.
But I may jump the Tamiya ship if Tamiya doesn't get smart and get going on some Sherman variants, plus make an "Official 2009 PR Release Announcement" for their NEW Sherman variants, IF ANY? Or at least leak the release info as they did with the Panther G.
If Mato and or HL does really release cool looking Sherman variants and Fireflys and Grants and Lees in 2009, I just might contact Phil for some El Mod upgrade work and how to instructions.
Currently, unless you're really a big Tamiya Sherman fan, as the DAK and a few SCAT guys are, it doesn't make any dollar logic to me to build an accurate Tamiya Sherman Easy 8 (adding Pershing DMD units, Impact metal tracks, rear deck mods, and other expensive parts, etc, etc, like the better builds do), so I sold off my nice "almost" Tamiya Sherman Easy 8 tank with Nick's Easy 8 turret upgrades/trans cover parts and financed the Tamiya Pz4 kit.
Let us know soon Tamiya or HL will get my hard earned Sherman dollars!

Maybe we should hold out that Tamiya will follow Heng Long's lead again and come out with a new/ revised Sherman! It worked with the Panzer IV didn't it? They have been retooling some of their vintage kits lately. Add the 1/35 R/C Sherman and who could deny the possibility?
I could, there is no word on Tamiyacon once again.
I am concerned about the oddity of the Mato/ Heng Long's transmission length. I was hoping for the earlier 3 piece transmission and a welded M4 hull.

RE: 1:16 Mato Toys RC M4 Sherman Tank
Think my post got stepped on... one of the mods wanna tell me WHY?
Well, looking at the other posts, the 16 variants probably includes the M3 Grant/Lee's, as they are probably considering it on the intermediate bogie configuration. Personally, I'd only get the M3 if I was making an M4 arty tractor (like the one seen towing the Captain's yacht in 'Kelly's Heroes' or towing the Bailey sections later on) or making the alternate variations of the 'Haunted Tank' from the comics.
I'm praying they make at least one of the Tank Destroyers, preferrably the M36, with the proper M10/M36 angled hull, not the M4A1 hull (Hey Nick, did you sell one to Murphy to dupe? Might be a thought... and one of the T23's too...) Duckbilled tracks would be wonderfull too, plus the assorted track variants, especially the rather odd Canadian Dry Pin ones!)
But I'd like to see their prototypes before they begin cranking 'em out... so we can catch any gross errors like the horrific ones in the 'PanTiger' and the near-fatal one in the M41A3 (it was bearable afterwards, but could still have been better) Anyone have an inside like to Murphy and able to se we don't get an Allied 'PanTiger' out of this?
Murphy, can you chime in, despite your usual silence and let us know a few tidbits?

That's the $1,000.00 question, isn't it. If you are a modeler then yes it can. [sm=lol.gif]

Oh BS! Everyone has a computer so I really doubt someone saw it first. Heck, I saw it days ago before this thread!
It looks fairly good, an M4A1 76W. Too bad it's not an A3. Tracks look like rubber bands.
