Default Panzer III/Stug III

Running some ideas thru my head with all the new stuff coming out and one of them involves putting a HL Panzer III Turret Body onto the HL Stug III bottom? Will it fit?

Have had good luck with ordering a Pre-painted Tiger I Mid Ukraine Body from RCTANK.DE and found this to be a great way for the Challenged Painter to have a great looking tank at reasonable cost. Now I see Bill at RCcommand out with pre-painted full tanks. Maybe we can expect just painted bodies in the future?

The lower hulls are exactly the same. The upper are very similar...basically, the Germans used the PzIII chassis to make the Stug III. HL followed suit.

I can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure the stug IVs were just stug III superstructures mounted on PZIVs. They added some armor plate to the PZIV chassis to fill the gaps. It's more noticeable at the front of the stug IV. Where the bow gunner's position was on the PZIV is now a flat plate. And I think that plate was bolted on? I don't think it would be too difficult to model a Stug IV. You'd probably just need some styrene sheet to fill the gaps.

The superstructures on Stug III and IV seem very similar, but they are far from the same. Also, if Im not mistaken, all Stug IVs had the late smooth gun mantlet that was installed in later Stug IIIs as well, as opposed to the early edged mantlet on HL's stug.

It might take a little modeling, but it is an option worth exploring to get a Stug IV.

Sure. You ll need a Panzer IV upper hull for the engine part too though.
