The black endbell motors run faster.
But if you compare tank speeds, you must take into account the motor-sprocket combination.

Great!
looks like i'll be moving the M41A3 motor into the Tiger and my M41A3 takes the new pair of Graupner 400... or the Panzer 3 takes the Graupners?

thanks guys!

If you search for our posts on motor and gearbox testing, the black capped motors in a Tiger will allow it to run about 2.5mph, much faster then stock!

The Graupner Speed400s in the BullDog will give you about 2.1mph

The PZIII runs at about scale speed with the white capped motors, 1.6mph.

These are the scale speeds.

M26A1 Pershing
40km h = 25mph 1.56

Tiger I Tank
38km h = 24mph 1.5

M41A3 Walker BullDog
72km h = 45mph 2.81

Panther Tank
55km h = 34.18mph 2.14

Panzer III
40km h = 24.85mph 1.55

T-34/85
55km h = 34.18mph 2.14

M18 Buick Hellcat
55mph = 3.44mph 3.44

Panzer IV Ausf G
42kmh = 26.1mph 1.63

M4A1(76)W
Sustained 34kmh = 21mph 1.31
Dash 39kmh = 29mph 1.81

The pinion spun at 18500rpms. In an 8lb tank with standard metal gearbox they turned about 16500rpms

Any body have a good source for the Graupner Speed 400's, not the big block 480's. i want to try these with the new speed reducers from RC4WD that we've been talking about.

I only got one motor from www.modelflight.com.au which wa their last stock, so I had to order another motor from www.hobbylobby.com

Hobby Lobby charge $25.00 US for international shippin aside from the postage &handling (bummer!)

And they arrived at the exact same day..

Good luck!

Oh Swathdriver, btw it means that the Graupner 400 is just about the same as the HL black endbell motor?

Th No-Load speed of the Graupner 400 is 16400rpm

HobbyLobby is the distributor in the USA.

Dongskie: They're about the same but not quite. The Speed400s are slightly more powerful and have more torque.

I purchased my Graupner's from Hobby Lobby as well. Did you get the 7.2 V versions?

yes. I noticed they had less of a draw (amps) than the 6V I didn't want to blow the board (I'm not that knowledgeable about electronics so I hope I got the right motor)

Those are the right ones. Here's some in my old Tiger with homemade gearboxes. They are good motors.

Just a reminder fellas, don't forget to address cooling your boards. I'm not up to date on the 18 but the 13 needs a fan to keep it cool when running the Speed400s. In Perry's case, the higher reduction gears lessons the load on the motors as I also experienced running 480s with El Mod.

Not too small.....James makes reference to gear pullers like these:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHHN3&P=0

for shaft diameters ranging from 2.0mm to 3.2mm

Jose

thanks for the tips guys!

Since a small puller is hard to find, I made one myself from a few nuts and bolts and 6 pieces of nitro car brake calipers:
