Default PzKpfw KV-1B 756(r) Build

This is the build of a PzKpfw KV-1B 756(r) from a friend of mine (work is still in progress). He's not good at English, so I will illustrate his build.
For those who are asking 'what the **** is this', in short is a KV-1 with cast turret, re-armed with a 7,5 KwK L/43, and with other changes and addition such as the commander cupola taken from a PzIV.

Plus some of his own additions, because he's an artist and he has to put his own touch in everything he works on.

This is the only existing picture of this very unique captured tank.

And here is some pictures of the build. They are pretty self-explaining, however they deal with:

- modifications to upper hull
- heavy battle damage on side fenders
- modification of heng long turret to cast type one, with german cupola
- new mantlet and barrel

Yeah neat is right! I like the captured KV with the L/43. Is he going to change the wheels out too?

Really neat for a field retrofit. Shows what you have to do when your really hard up and your own supply can't deliver. Tremendous amount of work alone in swapping & re-fitting guns....and ammo stowage alone would be a headache going from the 122 to 75mm. Really amazed that they made that swap unless the gun was damaged as 122mm guns and ammo were plentiful and that gun had a devestating punch. Those tracks would be a royal butt buster. The ultimate bummer after so much work would be to see it knocked out in its first battle.[:@] Very nice historic piece of info. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmmm ... pretty sure it originally had the 76.2 MM gun and not the 122MM gun.

Oh, I don't think it would be too terrible a conversion. But it will be a very unique one to say the least. A lot better than just throwing a Balkenkreuz on an Allied tank.

I'd like to see more of this soon. Ideas are starting to fly now. Thanks for sharing borealis.

I think he meant to use the modified upper hull on a standard KV-1 tank he has already painted. Where could he find such wheels on the market?

ASIATAM announced it not too long ago as a product coming soon. Both style road wheels along with their tracks and sprocket/idlers as well.

Have to agree, Jeff. Armor on that beast is a bit better that painting Wehrmacht insignias on a Sherman[&:] Still would hate to have to work those tracks. Interested in seeing the completed tank. That long 75m would give it some range improvements. From what I read, the 76.2 was accurate but not great on range.

Looks like this KV series may run competition with the Pz III. I wound up with 8 pz III ausf's as well as 5 variations of the M-26, including my M-46. May even be able to model a JS-2 and with the new Sherman about to hit the market, there should be a lot of conversions appearing on RCU. Letting someone else do all that work, as time restaints have me tied down. I have requested a two hour extension to the 24 hr day, but that has not been granted. []

I've gone for the extra day a week approach, but I'm waiting for approval.

God created the world in six days, rested on the seventh and did some converting on the eighth

Yes, I believe it is better. There is a new sound for the engine during driving which is very loud, compared to how it used to be. It also lends itself to speaker upgrades in a better way. The rest sound like the original sounds, just louder. When compared to the Jagd it is quite noticable. No longer is the gears and smoker the loudest noise coming from the tank.
