Does anybody know which gearboxs come in the HL tanks from RCCommand? Are they standardHL or the 3:1 boxs?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

They come with standard metal Heng Long gears. You have to purchase the 3:1 gears separately

If you buy it all as a package, metal tracks , sprockets and idlers with the gearboxes you can save quite abit of money.

I second that as a package deal you can save money, also I would bet you will see some great deals from BILL@RCCOMMMAND this holiday season,I already have a standing order for a NEW GREY PANTHER/AIRSOFT.Bill will be coming on strong in the market to recover from any bad press and that is good for the consumer as competition always levels prices out,Saxondog

And I actually like the quality of the metal tracks Bill gets. Not as heavey as Impact or Asiatam but much less money and look and work just so sweet.

Interesting... I thought those tracks were lighter. I have only used HL's metal tracks and never had a complaint once the loose pins are taken care of.

You might be able to work a deal with Bill to sell you the tanks as a package and replace the standard HL metal gearboxes with the steel 3:1 gearboxes. It won't be a one-for-one swap, but it might be cheaper than buying the tank package and a separate set of gearboxes.

Does anyone know if  Bill's steel gearboxes (42$) have any reduction (3:1), or is it a standard gearbox with steel gears?

Thanks for your help

Have them in my HL pershing work great, but the white cap motors make it run slow ( lot of torque thou )
need to replace them with Graupner speed 400's.

Hi Tankinstein,
How do you think  that this combination ; speed 480 motors with 3:1 reduction gear boxes (with fan) will enable pershing  to pivot on tall grass?I 'd been told so many times that the pershing has never ever pivot on tall grass and that is the weakest point of this HL good runner.
Now in my friend work shop I have asked him to modify 2 tanks by the combo above, pershing ang tiger1 ,he told me that last time for a tiger1,she spins on hull height tall grass with ease by the 3:1 gear boxes and 380 speed motors but for the pershing we 've never had any information .
Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Speed 400s or basic 480s (like Jamaras)? I don't have a Pershing but from everything I've seen from others either one should allow you pivot in the grass. According to the specs, you'll get a little more umph from a 480, but I haven't been able to get my hands on a 480 to try it. Some have told me that for all practical purposes there won't be much difference between the two, though.

Most 480's are of the long can version. ( BIG BLOCK MOTORS) not sure if they would fit in the Pershing.
