RE: I ordered a Mato Sherman update. It ARRIVED!!
Well I took plenty of pics and will take more of the Sherman outside for field test runs. So far on the table out of the box tests have been no let down. Everything started up no problem. Everthing functions.
Packaging. Mato did an excellent job packing this Tank. Everthing was intact and laid out nicely. It was one of the easiest tanks I could get out of the box. The box is smaller than the regular boxes. Check mark here.
Appearance. Excellent. The model looks clean and well made. Nothing out of place, nothing loose, nothing rattliing. The details look great and crisp. Whether it's accurate or not the overall impression is it looks good.
Transmitter. Seems Toy like but fits nicely in your hands. The sticks are kind of spongy but has a nice feel to it. It took me a moment to get the feel but I like the push buttons. Their easier to activate than those little square buttons. Clean look and nice feel and I like the color.
Speeds: Wow quite a zippy Tank but easy to control and manage and all the proportional speeds work well.
Suspension.: Works very well not saggy like the Jag or KV1 but robust and strong. That I like. Check marks here too.
Manueverabilty. Excellent. The best yet. I thought the Stug and the PZ4 could maneuver well the Sherman beats them hands down. This would make an excellent IR Tank. Cornering is amazing.
Machine Gun. Good sound but no light at the muzzell. No big deal.
Engine Sound. Sounds fine to me different than what I been used to with the other Tanks. Again it may not be accurate to some but out fo the box it beats a KT, and a Pantiger(old Panther) and Sturmtiger any day. The hull rattles slightly on near max volume though so tune it down to avoid the rattling panel.
Main Gun fire: New to me the way it fires. However though this Tanks Fires a standard airsoft the HARDEST! WOW. It actually goes the distance and with power. What the heck do they have in this Tank? Only my Creeping Death Tiger 1 Turret fires harder. My PZ 4 would be next to the SHerman in standard Airsoft power. Very smooth action . I am very impressed with the improvement.
The MG boom sound is quite different but enjoyable to hear never the less. The Tank lurches forward just slightly after the round is fired. Least it doesn't try to pretent it's a JAGRABBIT. So check marks here and here.
SMOKE? I was enjoying running the Tank I forgot to check that. Does it have it?Nope. GOOOOOD!! Tired of those smoke units always breaking down. One less headache to deal with.
Range- Excellent. I had no issues running up to 30 ft away and losing signal.
So there you have it so far. My expereince with the Mato Sherman so far has been excellent. The best yet in this Hobby for all my Tanks. ( Panther may change that...hee hee.)
I am very pleased with what Mato has done with this Tank. I can nit pick on everything else later but for now I want to enjoy this new addtion to the family and run it to death. So far this Tank as surpassed my expectations after reading about all the negative stuff and to be honest I was preparing myself for a huge letdown much like the KV1. Well I am glad it didn't happen and can gladly say that I am one happy customer.
Now to order the Panther and get replacement gears for the KV1 and StugIII
CHeers
oH I will post the pics tomorrow from this pc. They will get posted from here.
Thanks

Glad you like it! Just finished weathering up the second one to match the first. Your MG should light up.

I put the machine gun on top and the decals on the tank. I will check the MG again to see if it lights. up. Could be just a loose wire.
I wouldn't have a problem ordering a 2nd one. My buddy has 4 Tamiya Shermans and he looked at this one and said he's going to order 2 and it inspired him to complete the rebuild of his Tamiya Shermans. Overall a good first day.

It was nice to have rubber road wheels. Also nice feature is the hatch tab that swivels to release the hatch to the battery compartment. Yay no more screws or straining your thumbs and nails against the spring hatch.

Does not look too bad at all. Even the 50cal is acceptable- not as good as the Tamiya but far, far better than the Heng Long. The battery box seems to be nicer too. The transmitter is very stark though....I could not see what the three buttons are for- are they marked? I am itching to get one and do it up nice with a repaint and thinner barrel.
I am having such a difficult time deciding....I will only be able to afford either the Sherman or the new HL Panther. Decisions, decisions...

I am gong to have to get one of these!
[X(] I see one thing mato did wrong with the sherman...same thing VS tanks did and i told them to correct it!!
The on off switches are in backwards they get turned off if you snage something....This is why VS now puts them reversed.

RE: I ordered a Mato Sherman update. It ARRIVED!!
The 3 buttons had me stumped for a moment. When you turn on the tx the off light comes on then the on flashes briefly then the offlight remains. I thought it was a glitch until I pressed the button on the far left call it number 1. That turned the ON light led on the TX and the Tank started up simultaneoulsy. The # 2 or middle button activated the MG. Oh and yes it does light up, not at the muzzel but through the holes in the sides arouind the barrel. The # 3 Button activates the AIRSOFT and recoil. Now about that. You don't need to hold it down. Just press once and the mechanis fires the bb. The the recoil follows afterward with the Boom sound.
The barrel elevation control works like this. Push up on the stick the barrel elevates upward. Push down and it loweres . Down go down too far as it makes a grinding gearing meshy type noise. BUt finally you have normal control and not the hold it down and wait till it the barrels goes back in position again. That's a; big improvement. I was watching the bogies in action and they don't work too bad. No not 100% scale or accurate but it works for this tank.Remeber this is a Toy first not a true model like Tamiya so the market it was intended for are much more rough with their RC toys. I can understand why they chose to make it like these. I am sure the aftermarket bogies will be a welcomed addtion when the plastic ones eventually break.
I got more out of this Tank then my KT and it cost me less than the KT. So I am very pleased with it.

RE: I ordered a Mato Sherman update. It ARRIVED!!
Got my Mato Sherman today. Ordered it from the Blitz. good job Phil on the fast shipping. Upon taking a good look at it , I think it looks pretty darn good. I haven't had a chance to run it yet but my initial opinion is positive. Since we have been waiting almost a year or more for this tank, many expectations may have been overblown but we have seen that most of the issues with this tank have already been fixed by our great group of modders and modelers so I think I will really enjoy having this tank. I would have prefered an IR version first but thats just fine. My HL Pz III is airsoft and i love it so much i just dont want to change it. Now i'm off to the hobby shop to get some OD paint . Can;'t wait to see it with some proper weathering and detail work.
So , my first hand impression. Nice job Mato.

RE: I ordered a Mato Sherman update. It ARRIVED!!
Opened my Mato Sherman today just for S&%#s and giggles and found the white wire comming down from the turret crushed and un soldered and loose. Does anyone know what this wire is. I think it is the antenna wire and I believe I know where to resolder it but would like a pic to verify. YHR? Anybody? Also the speaker boxe is just floating around inside of the tank. The screw to to SINGLE mounting post is missing and the post came unglued from ther hull base. Not that big an issue but really please.

White wire is the antenna wire. Don't have a photo on file, but maybe one of those internal shots that HDBeast did of the Sherman would show were it goes.

That my explain a few things about my new Sherman. I think I now know what the large thing loose inside is and why my range is 10ft.
