1/16 StuH 42 with Upgraded Airsoft
Here's my latest project. I probably should have waited for the snow to do this one
It's is a Heng Long 1/16 Stug III IR converted to airsoft. I removed the stock light and redirected the wires to put a small light under the Notech light (which HL should reall do for all its tanks) I connected a laser to the machine gun and sighted it with the airsoft gun (as you can see in the attached video) and of course I installed an upgraded airsoft gun/barrel. This one is one of my more powerful tanks shooting over 250fps. I decided to install a shorter barrel and make this into a StuH 42 (Assault Howitzer). I topped it off with a couple of 1/18 21st Century figures in (its hard to notice the scale difference) It comes with metal tracks (winterketten) metal suspension and real idler adjuster. I have a toggle switch for the smoker. I'm thinking of putting 3/1 gears to slow it down.

Nice looking tank, but the assault gunned Stug's did not have the smoke discharger feature. Nice work on the white finish too.

Looks great TJ. I always thought the 1:18 scale figures looked more correct. I have a handfull my self. makes me wonder if our tanks are actually 1:16 scale since the 1:18 stuff matches better IMO.

TJM,
Which 21st century figures did you use? Would appreciate the part numbers for reference. Thanks.
BTW the Stug is awsome.

I love it TJM. Really nice detail and of course I am always impressed with the pro airsoft group here. Like the tracks too.

Small Joes sells the 1/18 figures but I can't see any german tankers. There is one for sale on ebay

I took the winter tanker and replaced his head (they come off) with an infantry man's head and painted the helmets white

I don't know. But I've been able to get a gun to shoot as high as 275fps. (typical is about 225) For comparison my TM Tiger is about 140 fps and my stock HL Panzer III and IV is about 100fps)I tried to get my hands on a 6.01mm inner diameter barrel (on ebay but lost it to another bidder). This would have most likely increase the power 10-20 fps) I'm currently using 6.03mm inner diameter barrels (optimal length is about 10cm +/-)

Beautifully painted Stug. Are you going to sell it on ebay?
And Panther G's statement, "I always thought the 1:18 scale figures looked more correct", well, you need an eye exam, seriously, your going blind.
Robby Robot Robotic limb jointed figures hardly look more correct. LOL. LOL.
In the modeling world, they are a screw it I can't find anything better to use solution, so I will use 1/18 toy figures as a last resort. LOL.
The 1/16 fine scale model figures not only look more correct, they are correct. There just isn't to much 1/16 figure stuff to find out their anymore. LOL.
The 1/18s toy figures work mixed with the 1/16 scale tanks and figures, because the 1/18s seem like small stature folk, but still look like little robot dudes.
Which has proven to be historically most truthful and even appropriate for most WWII Germanic tanker crew. Robotic. LOL.

Most likely I will sell it one day. I'm going to display it in my local hobby shop for a bit.

You mean Creeping Death. I had one of their turrets. All they did was replace the stock HL gun with a VS one. So you would be looking at around 150fps +/-. I think once you get to 300fps you will be able to penetrate a coke can (with one shot)

if its all aluminium (gears and all) then I would think that they could get even more power with upgrades.

They have always been quick to promise and slow to deliver. I too wish there was a high quality drop in airsoft gun. 300 fps woulod be OK but with a .5 gram bb. No coke can penetration until you use heavier ammo.

RE: 1/16 StuH 42 with Upgraded Airsoft
not sure 5g would be possible with the airsoft. I'm using 0.20g bb and getting as high as 200+ fps. Probably 250fps with the 0.20g would do a coke can in (but that is right at the mussel.

When it does snow, please take some action shots of that. Very nice looking indeed. Those snow pictures will look great
