Default 1/16 RC King Tiger with Porsche Turret.

Here is a big Porsche KT I did. HL internals. This time no recoil as it is just too fiddly.

It goes alright too, it is funny with the HL internals, in a tiger and panther I find the electronics struggle a bit in grass, however in a KT it goes ok, it must be the low ground pressure due to the wide tracks.

As almost always this one was rescued from ebay in a very sorry state, fixed up, repainted and sent back to the front.

I love the 'background scenery' too!

I have one of these, unbuilt new in the box Alan. At this point, I think the only way it may get moving anytime soon is via your HL internals method. With no TBU or DBU either, just like you've done. Servo for gun elevation, no recoil. Ultra low budget KT. Only thing is the turret ring, where do you get a hold of a turret ring without having to buy a whole HL tank to get?

I need a decent air compressor to paint the tank and to overhaul my airbrush. Dremel tool (which I'd also need to buy) to mod the gearboxes so they mate up with the tamiya sprockets. So much for ultra low budget lol. I might have sold it by now, but I would take a loss on it if I did, so it still sits in the closet. Going to just have to continue to sit a while longer I suppose.. Money for that kind of stuff just went to fix my garage door which broke last week. $257 just so I can open and close the garage door. There is always something lurking around, just waiting to drain you of cash when you least expect it.

Great job on your KT Alan, as usual!

You can buy tank parts separately, from for example, Tankzone, Asiatam de and so on, however when you want to turn an old Tamiya King Tiger into a modern running model it is, I have found, more cost effective to buy a new HL tank, gut it and use the parts in the Tamiya and then sell the empty carcass.

Thanks for your comments.

Cheers

Alan.

Guten Tag Alan,
Meine Familie kommt aus Bremmen und Saarbrucken. Aber, das tut mir leid...mein Deutesch ist nicht so gut. Your KT looks great. Which H L board do you have in there? With the RX 18 you could upgrade to the HL IR battle system. I just had my H L Stug III & Jagdpanther both with H L IR in Danville this past weekend and whereas it is not as sophisticated as the Tamiya, we did find them to be great fun and 1/4 the price.

You know I forgot to comment on this thread the first time through. Missed the oppertunity to tell you what a truly nice build this is. I hate it when good work like this doesn't get the responses as some other posts.

Show us inside now.

Thanks for your comments.

Here is what it looks like inside, compared to a FO KT it looks really empty.

Yes it could be very easy fitted with Combat IR gear, just a case of adding a socket for the apple and threading the diode into one of the vision slits. The cable of course would simply plug into the HL RX18 Board.

Yep lots of 88mm victims in the background!

Cheers

Alan
