Hobbby Engine M1A5/A6 LEOPARD ARRIVED!!
Ok ok ok I know not another one Snowtank but hey I liked the M1A2 so much that after staring at the Leopard 2 I HAD to have this one. So using my discount from otherlandtoys I ordered the Tank.
When I get this one I will give it a thorough review with pics like I did with the Abrams. I am going to have to get Armor Rabbit to use the snowblower and plow out a large oval track with mounds and have these 2 Tanks race around the track. Get this on the video and it should be fun . Set up the Targets on along the course to shoot, overcome obstacles and then straight to the finish. This will be more fun than racing RC SNOWMOBILS.
If there is a Tie we will have to just have a shootem out!![:-][:-][>:][>:]

Snowtank,
Have you made any mods to the Abrams tank yet?

Just one so far. I removed the internal battery compartment box. Kept the support colums that anchor it to the hull and made a larger styrene lid raised using knee pad form for cushioning and stretching if I have trouble installing the battery. It's tight but needs a minor adjustment so the battery doesn't get torn up when installing it. I got rid of hte original battery connector and installed a Tamiya connector instead. So far it works great and I've got 2.5 to 3 times more running time.

You can get it it from HobbyTron and others like it in the U.S. I can post some of those for you but right now I don't have the info with me here at the moment.

Snowtank, I have absolutely no regrets as far as my purchase of the HE LEO 2A5. I have stated before that I originnally ordered the Abrams but the dealer sent the LEO anyway, with out even asking if thats what I wanted. It is a really fun tank to drive, and it is HUGE compared to the HL tanks. With the right mods these turn out to be very good runners. I love mine. i still have plans to El-mod mine or use Tamiya electronics. I haven't decided yet. i would love to hear from Phil what he thinks. I know the El-Mod has a good Sound system for the Abrams but i'm not sure about the LEO. Phil, what do you think? Oh yeah. I can still have thwe road wheel spacers made if you need them. they will work on the LEO and the Abrams.

Actually ,I think this will be my next tank purchase when I'm ready. I love modern armor, so i want the Abrams also. Then all i'll need ia an T55 from hoben when ever they get their act together. Man a T72 or T80 would be sweet also.

The Leopard is on route now. I would love to outfit these tanks with an EL MOD system, heavier suspension and metal tracks. It would still place the cost far below than a fully outfitted Tamiya Leopard. God that Tamiya Leopard is a beautiful RC machine. (drool) I think I am going to modify the battery compartment to hold 2 of my Dreadnought 3000's using a Y harness. These Tanks have a lot of unused space inside.
Can I get those road wheel spacers after Christmas Panther G ?

[8D] Tracking status shows it's on route. I hope I get it Friday. Hmm wonder if it will arrive before my Panther G from Mato?

Don't know if I could get them by Christmas but probably not long after that. My friend makes them. We did my set just as a personal project but we decided to make them for anyone who wanted them so they aren't just laying around. He would have to turn a set out. we did buy enough material for 2 sets, so if you really want them PM me and i'll see when he can have them ready and the cost.

The Tank is on it's way to the delivery depot. Actually it should be there by now. I'm checking this post many hours later.

The more run my LEO 2A5 the more I like it. I would love to be able to ship it to Phil and have him do a full on El-Mod on it but it just aint in the budget this year. Or next maybe if things dont get any better. I wanted to get the HL Panther G by now also but thats out the window, so I will just be upgrading and improving the tanks I have now. I have plenty just need to update the list on RCU; LOL.
I really do want the Abrams. The HE is a real nice model of the A1 just wish the tracks and electronics where a little better. If HE wanted to they could have a real first class Hobby grade tank here if they just put alittle more quality into it. As the stand now they aren't even as good as a stock HL.
The good thing about them is there is plenty of room inside of them for upgrading. There is almost no end to what you can do with these tanks.

Yeah there not quite there with teh HL but they are not far off either. I think your going to see improvements in these models and future ones. I think they may have struck a market with the modern tanks here and go in leaps and bounds. They have a very good base to work with. The work is clean inside and good. It would't take much to improve their existing models. I do believe they are selling very well this year and gettig very good reviews for the product. Looking forward to seeing more of their line increase and improve. [8D]

Tks Rebellion13! I finally got it and now to post pics of it. I gave it a brief run around the living room and kitchen. It handles exactly the same as the Abrams. No broken parts straight out of the box. The only thing I thought the antennae for the TX was missing from the box. After doing a superspin on the living room floor something jettisoned from the rear underside of the turret. It was the missing TX antennae. Odd place to put it but it was well concealed. Hmmm maybe a good place to hide cigarettes....hmmm... naw I don't smoke anyway[:'(]. The Tank looks great. I will modify the battery compartment inside to accomodate a large 3000 7.2v pack later. Once again smooth shipping and handling, no broken parts. Can't wait to run it outside against the M1A2. [>:]
For now some pics. Got to get this done it's 1:34 am my time and I need to go to bed. [&o]

I really want one of those. I would like to model the Canadian Battalion in Afghanistan.
How long did this take to come from England, and what was the postage if you don't mind me asking???

shipping for me was 89.95 CDN for a 5.10kg shipped from London. Air and Ground. A Little pricy but this time I didn't have to pay for customs. Like I did the last time. However no hassles in the shipping and no damage. Excellent transition. No worry.
Cheaper than ordering a King Tiger from Mato.
