I wonder why it didn't sell..

Reason? That's easy. Due to original owner abuse and failure to follow the Ford Warranty and Policy Manual in respect to periodic maintenance and unauthorized modifications, Ford canceled the warranty.

Hey! Don't you talk about Fastest Only Running Downhill that way! lol
The reason it didn't sell is cause I wouldn't be able to afford Schumo upgrades for that sucker!
Man, if only I could hit the lotto......one day my friends, one day.

Heck, I would have bid on it if they had thrown in Shirley Jones & The Partridge Family bus.

way overpriced.....in spite of its Hollywood fame. A running Sherman thru MVPA gets around $50-75m, depending on condition. A couple really pristine M-41 and M-47s asking $95- 110m.

RE: I wonder why it didn't sell..
First On Race Day
Similar to Cheap Tank, I had an F-150 with a straight six and 3-speed trans. It had been a former contractor truck, and there wasn't a straight panel anywhere on the body. We called it "Landshark," and let me tell you - when giving signal to change lanes on the freeway, people got out of the way quick! It looked like sin, but it just ran & ran. Finally lost it when it was parked on the street and a drunk hit it at 40 mph at 4:00 in the morning and totaled it. Schmuck.

How can you work those initials to indicate they did NOT need to go through bankruptcy and receive a federal bail out?

If I could have afforded to buy it I would have done so. It is probably one of the most famous M4 Shermans around. What do you think guys? Bob

I liked Garner well enough as an actor but half a million plus for a tank he sat in?
Ehhhh no.

Jerry, I figured that out somewhat rapidly considering my aging and wine addled brain, hence my tongue in cheek reply. Just because James Garner's bottom polished the seat for a while to me adds zero dollars to the price.

Fortunate Oversight Regional Demporaphics
Favored On Robust Debts
Agree James Garner in one of our finest actors, but because he drove it and an absolutely stupendous T shirt adorned the turret doesn't jack up the price so high. The seller could have listed it any anywhere, but the price is totally unreal. Put it back to around $120 and it would sell.

And I know it's been a 'few' years (as in the late '80's) but I remember seeing a totally resorted Sherman in Hemming's Motor News for $50,000. Course in todays dollars I don't know what that would equat to.
AND if you look at the 'unrestored' interior of the tank in the ebay pics, THEN watch the 'TANK' movie and pay attention to the 'interior' shots of the tank, you'll notice that the movie version ' tank interiors' are a LOT whiter and pristine than the 'unrestored' interior of the tank's interior shown for sale. That's where 'SOUND STAGE' for interior shots comes in to play. In the movie the inside is BRIGHT WHITE so it's obvious the 'inside' shot are a mockup of an M4 tank. It's all well and good cause it's a darn GOOD movie for us 'tankers'.
It's just that a TANK is a TANK to those collectors that could afford one of these GREAT (and OLD, CRANKY, MAINTENANCE INTENSIVE!) HISTORICAL Machines to own! And if you're going spend tens of thousands of bucks on one, who cares WHOSE BUTT slid across the seats for THAT kinds of coin! It's just the cost of OWNING one is worth to YOU!
