Paisans!...attenzione, un'occhiata al mio carro armato Italiano!
If you don't use Google translate, that means.....
Paisans! Attention, look at my Italian tank!
In my never ending quest to have the only one in the world, I decided to go Italian.
At the Kellys Heroes Tank Club meeting in April, two tankers threw down the gauntlet and challenged me to build a Semovente. Tanque and kclank, who frequent this forum, are the responsible parties. (Tanque and kclank......they sound like a Las Vegas magic or juggling act.)
Anyhow, I got some reference books and surfed the web for ideas. The Italians built some really interesting things used in WWII. There are about a dozen things I would really like to build. This is the first one, a Fiat Ansaldo Semovente da 105/25 M 43 (self propelled gun)......... My next project will be something with a shorter name.
Eric Scott (AKA heavyaslead) and his Zrinyi 1 scratchbuild also inspired me. I am amazed at how similar the suspension systems and the body shapes are on these two tanks.
I hope I'm the only kid on the block that has one of these, if I'm not , just slap me to sleep with a pizza.
The ammo trailer is bogus for this AFV. I just wanted to do one for fun. The track and R/C gear is from an HL Panzer III. Machine gun, gas cans and tools are Verlinden, everything else is scratch.
I think the paint job is going to be desert sand with green splotches.

As usual you are an inspiration to us all. i did a search that brought up a couple of references to trailers used with the Semovente. And Tanque and Kclank are synonymous with Sigfried and Roy. We did not throw down a challenge, it was a sandwich!!!

Really? 164 views so far and only 3responses? How lame!! Why anyone shares their build is becominghazy.
Any way, that's amazing work Rex. If your not the only one on the block with that......there's always best built and buddy you've got the Blue Ribbon. Anymore photos your holding back about your build, I'd love to see'm?!!

I've always liked that tank and you've done a fine job of it. I play that game Codename Panzer and at one point you are issued one so I was curious about it ever since.

Rexus Maximus, you be the Bestus.
Glad I could help you decide what to build.
It never fails to amaze just how fast and how well you can build one of these projects; you are truly the "Bestus"...
Now help me make patterns for 1:10 or I'll cry.( kidding.... about the crying part)
Truly Rex, I look forward to seeing the beauty at the next meeting...

I took the pics out on the patio in the afternoon. It got very windy. I took my camera and my beer back into the house. I should have taken the trailer instead. But it's repairable.

OUCH!......but of course it's repairable! lol You built it!
I can't stop staring at your build. Is absolutely everything scratched out (aside from the obvious electronics and tracks?) Also, I may regret asking this, but how much time did you put into this build?

Inspiring and depressing at the same time!
Thanks for sharing what can be done when you mix a little bit of plastic with persistence and talent.

Rex, that is a spectacular display of scratch building talent! Your skill is extraordinary, and I can only envy said skill, as I KNOW I'll never live long enough to acquire that level of ability.

Wow. Very nice. Next time you pull a stunt like this take some pictures and let us follow along. Your work is incredible, and I for one would love to watch and learn a few things from you. Especially interesting is the work you did on the bogies.
Great stuff.
A lot of us are sititng around waiting fo the next tank to be released so we can bash it to something else. You on the other hand, build them from the ground up!!!!!!!!.
Why don't you build a Comet, and show us how. I for one would try and follow along on a build thread you put together.
Thanks for sharing this incredible piece of work.

Rex Ross,
All I can do is to agree with all the other posts, and It would be great if you did do another build and did a thread at the same time. Like YHR I would try my hand as well. Thanks for sharing and hope a vid will be coming out showing the tank on the move. I think it would be fascinating to watch the bogies move over the terrain.

Actually, I came up with this model after mixing Gin with some Tonic.

Freaken beautiful man. I'd love to have something like that. This is what the market needs to start doing and building some more obsecure tanks.

I don't know if I deserve those kind words (but I like 'em).............my stuff it far from perfect, accurate, etc. I would never enter a contest, or let an IPMS judge anywhere near my models. My stuff is best viewed at a distance. That's why I take low definition photos, from a distance, in poor light. Not being able to zoom in on details is not a mistake. I take shortcuts, employ artistic license, and generally take the easy way out of a problem. I'm not trying to be humble here, just realistic and honest. I build for fun. This is my hobby. I build stuff that is closer to being a yard toy than belonging in a glass case. However, I have an ego, and I like to "show off" my work to those who enjoy the same hobby. I love to hear people laugh........even if it's because they wonder "what the heck was he thinking when he built that"?
I would like to thank all who had positive things to say about my photo posts. This forum has always been very encouaging. My feelings are easily hurt and I hold serious grudges, so please be nice. The people who are involved in this R/C tank madness are really good people. It is a pleasure to be associated with youse guys!
