What is this?
Did Tamiya make a 1/16 British tank years ago or is this a converted Leopard 2A4?

RE: What is this?
Thanks Greg, didn't think Tamiya made one of this scale. But, never know.
I did place a bid on it, but I let myself get outbid. I've requested photo's from this guy who says, it's static but comes with parts needed to make it RC......but won't tell me what he's including or provide pics. Sounds like a potential nightmare.

RE: What is this?
By golly it is........
I wonder where he got the tracks? Although this isn't the best angle.....the tracks look appropriate. He's selling a Tiger I and in his description, he says his father built it before he was born. So I can only assume his father built this.....
I asked him if this is scratch built, he didn't answer that question and only said this was a Tamiya. I'm still thinking this is a converted Leopard 2A4.
Anyway, even if this were a diamond in the rough.....I think I just ruined my chances of getting a steal on this by posting this up!

RE: What is this?
tamiya didn't make any britisch tank at any time, i follow the tamiya line more than 30year, my first was a RC porsche 930RSR and a lamborghini that was the time they came out with the leopard A4 and the geopard. The geopard was the only one with moving turret and cannons, the leopard had just a dmd controler i think my brother in law bought one then, he pays then 24000 francs or 600 euro now wasn't cheap even backaways

RE: What is this?
Yeah, I agree with Wozwasnt it's the Tamiya 1/25 Centurion mistakenly labeled as a 1/16 tank.

RE: What is this?
could be a good modification, mine and servoblast Jagdtiger aren't also in tamiya's catalogue but that would not say they are not worth to buy
but its a risk, if his father made it although he must have good skillls to convert a leo to a centurian don't you think

RE: What is this?
If that is indeed a 1/16 yes, good skills involved. But if that's truly a 1/25...and I'm privileged into believing that since he won't provide extra pics.....me don't play with 1/25th!

RE: What is this?
Tamiya never made a Jagdtiger in anything bigger than 1/35th, so you're right ... it wouldn't be in any catalog.

RE: What is this?
Some years ago Tamiya made the Centurion, Chieftain and Tiger in 1/25 scale these were available as either wired remote control or static kits the models are miss advertised as 1/16

RE: What is this?
Just got a response from the seller..it's 16 " long which puts it a couple inches longer than a Pershing...and was once motorized. He says he did mis-label it German instead of British. Hope someone picks it up...it's getting too far up in price now for me.[]

RE: What is this?
Obviously, the guy doesn't know what he has., I asked him to measure the length of the tank, and he came back with 16 inches....now, I'll have to ask with or without the gun.. [:-]

RE: What is this?
his measurement included the gun, when I asked for chassis length. [&:] Jeff is right, most likely the 1;25th. I have the 1;25 Tiger and it's a real nice model. Someone could still get a good deal if the price doesn't jump too much more.
