Default "Bring them Home" updated

Not happy where I had located the applied armor on the left side of my Sherman, I removed it and re-applied in the right place. Instead of painting it to match I thought I would leave it in Primer, to represent a repair, with some loving words from that gals that were working in the armory. I like to add a little something to each tank, to make it unique and tell a story.

I also modifed the suspension on this unit, as well has added some proper width rubber on the wheels. I am also adding bits of stowage here and there.

Added Buckle hardware on the knapsacks, as well as added hold down straps on all the pioneer tools.

great looking Sherman Dan, have you ever thought about posting tutorials on your site? It would be a great help for tank modelers

love this one!
I name all my tanks, but this one with a little "background" makes it special.
I think it's the personal touches which make a model.

Yes I thnk I will do some tutorials up on a couple of techniques, very similiar to what I used to do with the Model Railroad.

Karel47

I have three of these now. This is my latest, and i just got around to adding some of the finer details. Yes this tank is on a video though, just not sure which one you were looking at.

BiggTony

I had a mild interest in Sherman tanks when I first showed up on this board. Now I have five, 3 fireflies, a 75mm, and a 76 mm easy eight . I love them, as they really offer some character modeling. Almost everyone was unique in some way. I have been waiting to see if there is any truth to the rumour about HL making a Sherman, so I have held off buying another one for now. But if HL has no Sherman coming, it will be one more Mato again.

Thanks for the comments guys

Dan, do you have any books that you would recommend on the Shermans? Your details are amazing and all of your tanks are beautifully done.

I have a book specifically for Firefly 1C's. The Author is Wojciech J. Gawrych. It has museum photos' drawings, plans, and wartime photos of FF1C's in action. It is a great reference with photo's of just about everything.

Dan, you have given us all something to aspire for when building a Sherman tank. I can't get enough of that thing.

Hi Dan,

Superb build. I love all the stuff that's going on with this tank. I'm no Firefly connoiseur but the turret bustle looks excellent. Details like the different styles of jerry cans on the back, and several of the caps dangling by their chains really gives it "the look". Nice buckles!

I am having trouble understanding what this message means. Can you try phrasing it a different way. I don't want to ignore a question, so I am asking for a little more information.

OH, Yes Dan is my name. The back 3/4 of the Tamiya upper hull is a staple in most of my Sherman builds, as is the Turret. The stock upper hull though does need work to be authentic. Ideally you should change the angle on the front slope.

Here are some pictures of how I modified the Tamiya hull. I did not however change the slope angle on the front, and I used the high bussle turret, and did not modify the back end of the Tamiya one,. Only a true Sherman Tank spotter would ever notice these inacurracies.
