RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?

RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
Or my plan is to modify it to a Russian T-95:)

ORIGINAL: Socioanthroman Or my plan is to modify it to a Russian T-95:) They're really not very similar.. at least from the prototype pics I found online.. if it's even a real pic.. since the T95 project was cancelled..and stuff.. |
RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?

RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
All Those What Leopards and Abrams's. There are only 2 LEOPARDS and 1 Abrams. Tamiya makes the only good LEO the Hobby Engine LEO and Abrams are crap with out a complete upgrade and electonics package in them.
Again, TOTAL disregard for what the people who buy these models have been asking for. This is proof positive they make what they want you to want. I can see that the RC Tank fans in China might be very happy but what about the rest of the world, by the way make up a far larger number than just Chinese rc tank fans. Currently you now only have 2 possible opponents of this tank. The above mentioned a Tamiya LEO and the 2 HE tanks, again that need full improvements to be even on HL's standard. Not many possible scenarios there. We need some T-72 varients, an Abrams, a LEO , a Challenger, A Merkava, As well as this Type 99, A Japanese type 70 would be cool. I for one would really like to see the entire range of modern armor made by HL. Tamiya it isn't but they certainly do get more first time buyers become full blown hobbiests, and then come the Tamiya's. I would kill for my 2 HE tanks to have performed atleast on par with HL from the box but they arent even close mechaniclly and the electronics, for get about it. Well, I guess it is a start and as long as they have something else from the above list then i will consider this model, but no point other wise. <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
What is this?!?!?!
http://www.henglongtoys.net/eng/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=514 Wonder if this is still made and if it's the famous quality steel gearbox that was made before. |
RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
I personally want a Leclerc, and have debated scratch building one, but the Chassis are so different that no present Chassis would work. I did here that Hooben was talking votes on their new tank. It was between a Merkava and something else.

RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
Personally...
I'd not buy the T90. If I could be assured the current Walker Bully was debugged (see the other thread), I'd sooner buy it. Now a Merkava, especially a Mk. 1 or Mk. 2, both of which look so Sci-Fi (models of same have been scav'd for Sci-Fi parts - turrets on the Sulaco, for one) that would be a buy. As for 'rights', HL dun seem to care, so where is the problem? WhiteWolf |
RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
The Merkava is the one I'm looking for. Just wonder if Tamiya can comes with the model?

RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
Elefant:
Nope. First the Sherman in '74, then the Leopard 1A4, the Gepard, then the King Tiger (Henschel Turret) in '78. There were various releases of each - the RT series was the ones designed for radio control, then there were LT versions of the Leo and Gepard, but they had styrene chassis, 'flex' suspensions (like the torsion arms on the 1/24 Academy Panther & JadgP.) and styrene tracks. The Gepard even had a lighting array for the gun-barrels in that version. The LT's were wire-control, but the W/C Sherman had a metal chassis. Finally, there was the rather rare 'computer-controlled' Sherman, where you input a programmed sequence in for her to run. It was much like the later toy "BigTrak" ( I think) assault 6x6 w/ dumper-trailer (friend had one) But looking at Tamiya's 1/35 line, they have done a lot of 'unusual' (aka non-standard) armor lately - Italian P40 Heavy (89792) & Light L6/40 (89783), Brit Staghound Mk. 1 (89770), German AB43 AC (89697), Super-Pershing E4 (35319), Finnish BT-42 (35318) Russian BT-7 1935 (35309) and others... and coming soon: US AAVP7A1 (89736) & M551 Sheridan (89541). Looking at the 'catalog in reverse, seems they started w/ WW2 units, and the variants, then picked the more popular post-war vehicles. They have made a 1/35 Leclerc S2 (35279), both a Chally 1 Mk.3 (35254) & Chally 2 (35274), Leo 2A6 (35271) (a 2A5 as well), Abrams M1A2 (35269) & M2A2 Brad IFV (35264)(is another ver. too) and even the Russian T-55 (35257). They made two JGSDF LAV variants (which Kyosho did in 1/16 very well using the Half-8 chassis - got 5 of them!) But YES, Tamiya made a Merkava - a Mk. 1 (35127) and nothing more recent (which is sad). My guess is Tamiya will make an Abrams or Chally before they make a Merkava, sadly, though I wish it was otherwise. I think if we had a more recent 1/35 Merkava, we might have a chance at a 1/16 one. But the Mk. 4's been out since 2004, and no recent ones from Tamiya. And with its first successful use of the 'Trophy' APS, you'd think someone might get on the ball, hmmm? As for what HL or Hooben decides... I consider getting a HL Merkava, but I'd think LONG & HARD on a Hooben Merkava... Just my thoughts and observations... WhiteWolf |

Imeant for all the people who own one.

RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
Hardly surprising for a nationalistic Chinese company to put out a model of their own MBT as a flagship of their product line. There'll be plenty of sales within their own borders alone that they can afford to ignore our whingeing from other corners of the world for a Abrams/Challenger/LeClerc/Merkava etc. Tamiya didn't even bother to put out a Japanese tank of any era in 1/16 scale.
|
RE: A new Heng Long T-99 Tank?
I think I would have to disagree with you. I'm certain that world wide there are more RC Tank enthusiasts spread around the globe then there are in China.
Yeah I get the national pride thing but if you haven't noticed most Chinese are not thrilled with their current government so I think the National Pride had little to do with it. HL wanted to do it and that is that. As they always do , they build what they want you to buy. Not what we want to buy. |
