1/16 Panther Tank Tamiya Barrel Accuracy?

I have a Heng long 1/16 Panther on the way and I'm looking for upgrade parts. I heard there are scale and shape inaccuracies with the Tamiya barrel. First is this true? Second is this on the stock one that comes with the kit and/or the Tamiya aluminum one you can buy separately? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The aluminium one that comes with the kit is a bit short. The correct barrel in scale you can buy from ETOarmour.com

With all due respect, I thought it was the kit's barrel that was too long. And only in a side-by-side comparison can you tell the difference.

I would be more concerned in addressing the loose fit in the mantlet with BOTH barrels. Either by replacing it with the metal IMPACT version or one of SCHUMO's resin pieces.

Daryl Turner makes a sleeve that makes up the void so you can still use the kit's mantlet.

So, that's what I would do. Use the kits barrel and fix the loose fit with the barrel/mantlet. This would be the least expensive

yes that's right anyway axels barrels were last month in promo that why i bought one

The current Panthers are not supposed to need anything to take up the extra space. I may be wrong but I know I heard that Tamiya had fixed that problem.<div> They fixed their track and sprocket issue.</div><div> As far as barrel length , I wouldn't want it any longer. That puppie sticks way out there and you need to be careful enough as it is now.</div><div>I know the KT barrel is incorrect but never heard about anything other than the need for a sleave. I wouldn't want a barrel that is much heavier either.</div><div>The elevation unit has a slipper clutch gear in it and the barrel will sag slightly over rough terrain.</div>

I have a Heng Long Panther, ordered the metal mantlet and other parts, but I'm hung up on which aluminum gun to go with. Is the aluminum Tamiya barrel correct? Here is the text from a competitior:

So wait, first, Schumo claimed that the Tamiya aluminum barrel was too short, now they are claiming that it's too long???????

I think it's all hype, designed to sell a replacement part that you don't really need.

The Heng Long Panther comes with a metal bbl. You won't need to upgrade it.

Sweet, you were right! It does come with a aluminum barrel, but a plastic muzzle break. I'll have to get one of those. Why do they want so much damn money for metal tracks? Arrrrg.

Why do you think? They are rather expensive to make, perhaps you could make some for less €, personally I rather think they are cheep considering

When you refer to Brit pounds hand crafted in a country manor workshop by the king's craftsmen that's one thing, I'm thinking more of the mass produced items from sweat shops overseas mate.

The sign was the €Euro not £Pounds, and England has a Queen.

All metal tracks come from Hong Kong and China; they are all made using “the die cast method” this mean’s a hardened steel master is machined containing several links this master is operated by machine now the cost of making each dye could be upwards of 20-50000€ plus the cost of the machine to feed the dyes plus the cost of alloy and the cost of gas to liquefy the alloy even in a sweat shop the costing wouldn’t be much if any cheaper so yes 90€ for a set of metal tracks is very cheep it’s a highly specialised job that’s why there are no sweat shops making them
