More photos of Hobby Expo China including Warslug & Waterson's T-72. The Land Rover is Heng Long's attempt at something more akin to a crawler but looks weird in more ways than one. If anything get rid of those phillips screws holding the lamps in place. Much better is that new Mercury 1/10 offering bringing up the rear.

Some photos of Hobby Expo China that wrapped today in Beijing. I was't able to attend so pulled these off of the largest hobby forum here, 5imx. Heng Long, Torro, Trumpeter, Watersons & Warslug were attending. Torro teamed up with KY Models which may be a sign to come towards distribution options for KY's RC ship line.
Thank You for pictures Have You information about any 1/10 scale rc tank manufacturers ? Hooben released two 1/10 rc tanks (Tiger I and Sherman) and allegedly had to post next two items in April 2019 - but for the time beeing no any answer from them |
Great pictures thank you. Did Heng Long have their new 1/16 T-72 there on display? They are supposed to be releasing it in June. |
I looked through all 9 pages of pics and there is only one pic of the HL. It was posted above.

I thought that T-72a was by VStank, not by Heng Long, am I mistaken? I thought that they were separate companies

The T-72 I posted is sitting next to both the 1/8th metal Heng Long Tiger and the 1/8 Heng Long Abrams in the HL booth. The T-72 from VS/Waltherson/Trumpeter is shown in a weathered state after the 1/6 metal King Tiger from Warslug pics. The box they are sitting on is very similar, but not the same. One is on a table and the other on a yellow drum. Not the same tank.

Note the VS logo on box. - VSTank https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...7d49a13265.jpg Unpainted wheels sitting diagonally on box with very little metal details. Note the difference in wheels from the other pic and no VS log - HL version. |

HL was showing their new T-72 as well.
Hooben didn't attend this year but, yes, has several new models slated for release, one of which for really I'm stoked about. That said, with them its always best to be patient & stay tuned. I have just about every German tank and SPG made, in 1/10 scale from Pz I to KingTiger, E-100 and hopefully, eventually my very own Maus-( I've been waiting on it's construction for nearly 5 years now(!)). I'd really love some allied armor, plan to send Kate my Sherman ( Fury) order shortly if I ever can get an idea how long it will be before metal tracks are available.... Some British armor would be swell, a Pershing, Chaffee, Some T-34 variants. Of course I'd be a happy guy if only someone would go out on a limb to make a 1/10 Semovente da 75/18 Hey I can dream...But then I have to be really really picky as I'm nearly out of space. I will never admit to how many 1/10 scale models I have as I only want people to think I'm crazy, not prove it to them... Jerry |
KY Models is now promoting Torro on their WeChat feed today as a new release so it appears there is new synergy in the hobby market.

If you look at the pics closely, the fuel barrels on the back are different, the main gun barrel detail is different, and the track skirts/front fenders are slightly different. The tracks on the VStank look like T-72 tracks (round single extended pins). The tracks on the HL version look like the T-90 tracks (elongated dual pin endlinks similar to Abrams track).

Is WarSlug really selling? There tanks are real metal works of art, but the price point is not in my range anyway!!! Great photos. Thanks for sharing them!!!

Doubtful but who knows. Here where I sit a few have been spotted in what I call "high end adult toy shops" in the upper end malls that sell overpriced home accessories & collectables for those who have more money than God. Saw one in Beijing alongside a 2m model of the zeppelin Hindenburg & 1/4 scale Ferrari.
I agree they are works of art & their FT-17 is sorely calling my name but no way am I going to shell out that amount of money for one. Here's their latest price list they posted last week on Facebook. Armorktek's new M3 Grant costs less with all the options than what Warslug wants for a static FT-17. Thats nuts! https://www.armortek.co.uk/product/m3-grant-medium-tank/ https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...9577bdbecc.jpg |
I think you can pickup the 1/4 scale tanks cheaper from Mark1.
|
Wow, price of a nice car!!!! I really want 1/6 scal Stug III G. Metabox shows one on their site for about $4761 U.S. dollars. Not sure if they are still making them? R/C Armory has one that thye were developing but didn't make it. Really wnated it as it was going to be made with PVC sheet. I have their 1/8 Tiger II and it is a great kit and light for it's size. Using PVC for the major parts, Hull and Turret, and cast aluminum for running gear and steel for drive sprocket rings.
|
One trend I see for sure from the exhibition, is the emphasis to full metallized tanks, which I see as a good thing as they are approaching actual machines and not just toys.
|
Come back in another year or two to see who's exhibiting then since I seriously doubt Warslug will be around. Talk here among the locals here is they must be using this as a tax dodge since there is no way they'd ever see a ROI.

down payment on a modest home or condo... |
Heard that. I have to say after seeing them in person they are sweet but for that price???? I'm not even sure at this point if they are offering them as kits, ARTR or, possibly, given the asking price, include an attractive attendant in an ersatz period uniform to help answer any questions you have with your purchase.

Jerry, if you buy a Smart Car you can get a brand NEW car for the price of their King Tiger and still have a little money left over.

I hear you, I'm just saying that you don't have to settle for a used car for the amount of money that you would spend on one of their King Tigers, you can get a new one.

If I was just starting in the hobby after a brief stint in 1/16 without knowing of other scales I'd likely make the leap to 1/6 just because more 'stuff' is available as well as the models themselves. 1/6 has been the darling scale of armor for some while now but was virtually unheard of in that context before Dragon hit the fan with their military dolls. Of course I'd love to see Hooben do more with 1/10 scale which I have to believe is more practical for many European and Asian enthusiasts due to available space, modes of transport and living quarters. If Hooben fires up interest others will follow and the secondary 'accessory' manufacturers will already be there to add their details. 1/10 is considered 'odd' by many but there was a time when it was not; it is still a fairly large canvas upon which to add details... I actually like 1/6 (but not enough to switch), Warslug's prices not so much.. Jerry |
