IBU2 board HELP!!

Hello from E-city in NC,
I am really new to the 1/16 R/C tank hobby, and I am trying to get my first scratch built tank up and running. I ordered a IBU2 ultimate board from Ian over in England and installed it. I have gone thru the radio calibration steps where the board talks to you and has you move the sticks to their full travel for the respective inputs.
The only thing that works is the gun sound along with the machine gun sound, the motors don't run and my turret traverse motor will not run. I have all 4 channels hooked up and Ian has said he programmed the board for a DKLM gearbox which has a steering motor and a main forward/reverse motor. Ian made up all the cables for me and I am pretty sure that I have everything connected as the instruction book says.
I'll attach a photo for any body with a keen eye and hopefully you see something I screwed up!
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am just about ready to put this thing on the static model shelf!

I see an Tamiya TBU (receiver, emitter, flasher) setup. So, what are the red and black wires pugged into the "flasher LED" port for?

And just to clarify what you've got going, what are the red and black wires in the 8 pin for?

One more thing: Did you left stick down to the right to start the engine?

Thank you BcuriousR !!!!!!!!!!!
The stick down and to the right did it! I am used to the electric airplane models where when you arm the system it's ready to roll, I forget about the dumb sound affects that these tanks have.
Down and to the right starts the "simulated engine" and then the motors will run, it all makes sense now.

The 2 wires in the 8 pin connector are to drive my turret traverse motor, and that seems to be working good.

I have tried to put the barrel flash LED into the "barrel flash LED connector" spot and it does nothing, I now have the barrel flash LED plugged into the "flasher LED" spot and it seems to work in conjunction with the firing sound except it has a several second. delay which really looks odd. Any ideas on how I may have screwed this up? My little Tamiya Sherman has an instant flash when the gun sound is heard so is it just the IBU2 boards with a delay?

Once again, thank you so much for the input! When it comes to the modern electronic boards I am not the sharpest tool in the shed:)

The "flasher LED", (by the 8 pin), location is the same as the Tamiya TBU flasher. It works in conjunction with your apple, (non Tamiya), (signals: received hits, reload, programming changes, etc.). The "barrel flash" location will be for your LED barrel flasher. However, if you're using a Taigen or HL flasher, it would be plugged into the "xenon flasher" location on the board.

Hope you get it worked out. I'm happy to help with what I can.

I have no idea what LED I am using, a fellow tanker at the Danville Va meet gave me 4 LED bulbs and said that they work well for him. One of those bulbs is what I have soldered to the cannon flash wire lead. I will experiment with different plugs, right now it just seems really lame with the 1 or 2 second delay between the gun firing sound and seeing the flash.
Thanks again for the help, I was really getting frustrated with the board.
