Shag:

For many of us thats old news. The modeler is one of the guys on our RC trucking group, and thats a simple Tamiya Mercedes with a repainted Bruder trailer.

You want a ~really~ sweet hauler, you have to cough up a lot more... http://www.sonderfahrzeug-modellbau.de/produkta7.htm A really sweet Faun transporter complete with trailer... 1995 Euro as a kit, 2895 Euro built & painted.

Peter makes a few other things in 1/16, and then larger scales (but at extremely expensive prices)

I wish I could shell out for the Faun... *sigh*

Oh well, there is always the lottery...

Wolf you are right, that is definitely SWEET. Would be awesome if someone didi a scale WWII transport for the Tigers and Leopards.

I see why that one is so expensive too, 12v operating system, and it looks like it is constructed entirely out of aluminum.

I would LOVE to see a 1/16 RC Famo with trailer. I'd definately be saving up my pennies for that.

Guys:

Willy Loewer has done a WW2 beasie: an M26 'Dragon Wagon' (don't ask me to explain why there is an M26 tank and an M26 wheeled transport tractor)

http://www.customrcmodels.com/ (I looked there, can' find the link easily, my dialup doesn't like his server) (mebbe Willy will chime in with the link?)

I'd seen a 1/16 static Dragon Wagon that was gorgeously built (looked as good as an expertly built 1/35 Tamiya one) but I don't think it was ever converted to RC, and the link is long gone.

Shagnifico:

Tamiya is about half the price of Wedico, partially because Tamiya's are mostly styrene and Japanese-made, Wedico's are mostly metal and German-made. Bruder is another German name, famous for their well-detailed plastic toys. Here is their US distributor link: [link=http://www.brudertoysamerica.com/]Bruder Toys America[/link] Check out the 'Top Pro line, thats the best detail stuff. You can see one Bruder piece clearly on Willy's page, the cement mixer body is a Bruder.

Well i FOUND!! a bruder truck, in my own city non the less!! specialty store has tons of German toys in it.

site here [link=http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rc-truck.com%2Ftrucks_index.html]--> here <--[/link] shows the conversion to a good tank hauler.

now i think i am not going to go as far as them, but basically they cut the cab chassis up and used it for the trailer wheels. tempting to make it though.

Now thats nice!! Makes me think of what the Tiger at the Bovington tank museum might look like while its being transported on UK roads.

from that site, i have figured out that it is that exact truck/trailer combo in the first pic. they modded the trailer to have wooden planks, and the truck was basically a tamiya semi frame (thinking home built thing). with the drive train for those trucks. then they put the cab on it after really modding it. they painted and put a windshield and wipers etc on it. the visor/mirrors/grill gives it away. they also complained about using the stock wheels from it.

the wheels are rubber, but only has an outer sidewall. this makes them have some flex, but perhaps too much inside wheel flex. still that should be an awesome project for me.

I really need one of those 1/16 tank transporters. Very tempting.

Guys...

I'm using the Robbe chassis from a 'Panther' fire truck, basically almost the same chassis TruckModellSport Hafner sells. It starts out 8x2 in the kit (despite the box claiming 8x8) and you need to add two driven axles out front, and the differential parts to one rear axle to make it fully 8x8. Then a new cabin andtruck body, and you end up with something close to what Peter Mueller sell.

I can take a few pics of my chassis if anybody wants to see (and with a Sherman or Pershing beside it for scale)
