Default OFNA Truggy - Novak Capacitor Help

Hey,

I have a OFNA Truggy with a Novak HV 6.5 Brushless system. I took it out today after years of not using it, and the capacitor started smoking and lit on fire when i plugged the batteries in. I ended up snipping the capacitor right off and everything works perfectly. I have two questions. 1) is the capacitor necessary? 2) How do i know which capacitor to replace it with. It's all burned on the top and I can't tell what it was. I do have some pictures that may be helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is my exact system:

This seems to be the manual for it:

Got a local hobby store? Pick up a "glitch buster" cap. Solder it into the old wires.

What OFNA truggy is that? 8th scale, yeah?

Yea it's 8th scale. It's a OFNA 9.5 MBX buggy. I've been lazy...I am going to sell it and switch to a monster trucks. My son has been begging me to get one for a while. I need to post it for sale.
