The stock shocks work fine. You may have to change to oil weight to suit your track and weather conditions.
The engine depends on if you are really racing or just running on a track. I believe the roar rules require a .21 but I could be wrong. You'd have to check with the track. I have an LRP Z.28 in my ST-1 and it flies. I still have the stock engine in my HF. Im still playing with different pipes trying to get the most power out of it.
I would get some LPR crime fighters or bow ties. The hook up much better then the stock tires. The the LPR's have less side wall flex.
Go with a high torque steering servo such as a JR or Hitec.
You can make a lot of adjustments if you check out the last few pages of the manual. Im not a serious racer so Im not sure how much of a difference those changes make.
Let us know what you go with.

I trying to get my Hellfire up to racing standards any1 have any suggestions on a engine, shocks, etc.? Thanks
4 racing a decent 21 and pipe, better tyres, better steering servo. The hellfire is heavy so it can handle a bigger engine but then fuel consumption increases.
The hellfire is no match for the better drivers with newer style truggies but is ok to learn with.

Everyone has their own opinions on what is best, so you'll really have to test various combos's and see what works for you. I've seen recommendations that are all over the map and some that make no sense at all. Anyway, things you'll have to deal with.

The HF is heavy. Bite the bullet, mileage really isn't that important and stick with a .28 engine. Try a JPX .28, not expensive and has great power.

The HF chassis is way too stiff. It doesn't work well with short, stiff sidewalls as you get with LPR tires.

The HF has way too much steering ackermann. Compare with the newer models and you'll see. There are various postings showing how to correct this.

The HF SS was the best. Check EBay and replace RTR parts with SS parts.

Front hingepin mod is a must. If not done, you'll be blowing out the front/rear hingepin holder with regularity.

Good luck.

So I have a problem, my servo saver keeps backing off really quick. Any suggestions? I thought about lock tight. Any suggestions?

Its unscrewing? The tension from the spring should keep it from doing that.
Anyone running an aftermarket pipe with the K4.6HO?

Yup I tighten it up to where I gotta use a screw driver to tighten it and it still comes undone, I run around the track about 2 times and loose my steering

WOW, that doesnt make sense. I would say a little locktite would do the trick then.
Is the spring sitting on the base properly? Are the screws top and bottom tight? I had to retighten all the screws in my front end after a day of hard jumping but I never had the server saver come loose.

Set the needles back to the stock position. Thats flush on the LSN and then retune from there.

Hello, I bought a used Hellfire, all of the cups are worn out and the axles are bent slightly ( front diff, rear diff and center diff ) Just curious what you have found to replace that seem stronger?

Thanks

You might be able to use the Savage SS diff cups.
How did all the shafts bend? Are they bent or twisted?

maybe I should say they are bowed. I don't think they are twisted. I'm not sure how all of them got like that, I bought it like that, guess that's what I get for buying used but seems to be in decent shape.

Look at the spring area. One is real close to the spring, one moves away from it. That half a turn.

MIght have been a very hard landing at WOT. The hellfire shafts are pretty strong. Its hard to bend them. I dont think there are any aftermarket shafts that are going to be any stronger.
What kind of engine is in it?

Losi M26SS. That thing sucks fuel too......

I'm thinking I will just get the stock part #(s) from HPI and shop around. This is the first truggy I have owned. I have a Savage XL, it's ablast but landing it is a different story. I wanted a used truggy to see howI liked it, if I can finda track close by ( which I haven't yet, sucks )I wanted to see how I could improve my driving skills. If things go well, I may buy something newer......I think the previous ownerwas bashing with it. I want something I can learn to drive and jump correctlynot seeing if I can jump 10' off the ground.

I cleaned up and inspected allthree diffs, the gears look good. What else should I look out for or maybe replace that the stock part was not as good as they intended?

Thanks

Since its used I would check the shock fluid. Check and change the diff fluid. Also check the clutch shoes and replace if needed.
Check all the screws on the front supports and braces. They come loose pretty easily when bashing.
The hellfire is a good jumper. Though I find it tends to nose dive if you dont stay on the throttle.
If you are planning on doing any kind of racing, even just messing around, you might want to look into different tires. The stock ones are good for bashing but they dont hook up all that well on hard packed dirt.
I thought there were a few tracks in VA? Try doing a google search or check out some of the other sites that have "where to bash" sections.

I tried the JP-4 and it didnt really seem to do anything for the engine. Im testing a Hyper .21 on it now. I didnt get to run it long yesterday before I lost a pin from the rear CVD and I stripped the steering horn. So I couldnt tell if it made a difference or not.

I first tried a TT2035 with long manifold. Definate big improvement and its super cheap.
