I use Sanwa ERG-VX servos in my X1CR and they are extremely powerfull and fast.
I use Futaba 9451 servos in my RS4 and they are even faster!

on my jammin truggy i run a hitec 5955 on throttle and 5995 on steering, both are awesome servos. on my xray buggy i run dual ace 1015's, awesome servo as well! no draw back to the hitec and the ace has 2 draw backs- their size and servo horns that fit. personally i choose the hitec servos! the specs say [email protected], but they are faster! amazing servo, will be swapping out the aces for hitec's in a couple of weeks.

Go with the Cirrus P-CS704MG. Over 190 oz. of torque for $30. Can't beat it for the price. Smooth and strong.

In my CEN Matrix Truggy I run the JRz9000T for steering and the JRz9000S for throttle. Spendy... but they are killer and have a 3yr warranty.

I had a HiTec 5955 in my Kyosho truggy and it lasted 2 races. Could've been a fluke... as I had a 645MG in my Savage and it never had a problem. As you probably know a steering servo in a MT takes a boatload of abuse and that cheap 645 worked just fine.

Hey guys...

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but please compare apples to apples. Please refrain from grouping all Hitec servos into one catagory; we make all levels for different needs.

Saying that the 5955TG is a Grand Am is a joke... more like a Ferarri! We do make Grand Am's too though.... i.e. 645MG

The 645MG is a piece of crap. It sucks. No way will I ever use one. Thank god I had as a steering servo. Had it died on throttle, dammit!! [:'(]

The 645MG is what it is, and sells for a reasonable price for the performance you get... I think to date there have been over 1,000,000 sold. Not bad for a POS!

If you are a high end racer then I could see that view... The Grand Am is a POS compared to other high end cars too.

Our new 985MG has proven to be an excellent throttle servo in 1:8th so you might consider it in the future if you want good bang for the buck. Street price is about $69.99. Here's the info on it: http://www.hitecrcd.com/Servos/hs985.htm

well I must appologize for my comments... It was aimed towards the fact people will call a product the best without having owned other products to compare... Saying the Hitec is the best "hands down" without ever having owned another competitors equivelent servo kind of pisses me off... Over the years I have owned dozens of hitec servos and radios. and Hitec does have excelent customer service... But over the years my Hightec gear has been the most prone to failure...Sure they are warranteed, but its alot of hassles to go thru.... Right now I own the flagship servo from ACE the 1015 and the Hightec 5997, 5997TG......the ACE IMO is the better performer and better value... though at this level of servoscomparing them is splitting hairs...

I had the Hitec 5955TG mounted on my Mammoth ST for steering and damn that thing is nice. I loved it and I would recommend it to you if you wanted a true high torque steering servo. It's worth the money IMO.

I bought this servo yesterday Cirrus P-CS704MG. It seems to work well. I'll give it a try and see how long it lasts. I guess for $50 it doesn't work to bad so far. If this don't pan out I'll try the ace next.

in all seriousness, WTH are you gonna do with 333 oz in of torque? that's as much as your 1:1 car makes
I'm assuming this was a joke, you do understand the difference between ft pounds of torque and inch ounces of torque, its 16/1 if you ever want to do the math so a 333 in oz tq servo would be about 20 ft pds tq.

BTW IMO the best servo you can buy is a JR for torque my personal favorite is the DZ9000T.

A) that servo is cheaper then 50$. I can get it from hobbypeople for $30 http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/440704.asp
B) had that servo for steering in my buggy, it crapped out pretty soon.

Actually its closer to 440 ft/lbs of tq, which is massive overkill. I think all you really need is around 200 oz/in or roughly 265 ft/lbs. The reason they are rated in oz/in is because the servo doesn't travel anywhere near a foot, so inches is a much better number to deal with.
Anyway, to JB Comp's message, yes that should be fine. Something closer to .10s is preferred, but .15 will get you by.
