I know of three:

1.) JConcepts Illuzion for Mugen MBX5T

2.) Symbio T2

3.) Proline CP2.0 for Mugen MBX5T - This is a somewhat tighter fit I think..

In general, Mugen bodies fit..

Here's my JConcepts:

I haven't run that one yet.. But here's my other one that I switch between the Hyper and my Muggy:

And here's the Proline. I sold it cuz it looked like a zebra...:

Anybody know the stock wheel offset? I am getting new wheels and want to know if it is standard or if it is a half inch offset.

Hi all

This is my very first post on here...so Hi all !!!!

I've had a savage 21 about 4 years ago and decided to buy another RC. I've brought a brand new Hyper ST RTR and just ran 6 Tanks of fuel

Its running very rich and very slow and i've not touched the engine settings yet.

But is the jetting set to factory settings or rich running settings as standard out the box ?

I've read all about the engine in the 4 page document and it explains about setting back to factory default. Is this what the car comes as or should Isetup the car with these settings now ?

Also i'm not liking the pull start and lost a fair amount of skin from my finger today 8(. Coming from a rota start on the Savage, whats the best option for a better starter ? Itake it i'll need to replace the pull cord with a new face plate ?

Sorry for the questions, but i'm finding my feet again in the RCworld

Thanks all

beerglass007,

Rule of thumb is its easier to tune an engine that is more lean than over rich. Place your RC on a stand or block and start your RC. As you turn your RC engine over you want your wheels to spin, not too fast but want them to turn moderatly. As long as it is lean it should stay on. Drive your RC around till you reach a temp of 200 degrees or about for 3-5 min (if you don't own a temp gun, buy one ASAP). It is hard to tune your engine unless it is up to temp. Once its on, that is if it remains running, place it on the stand and check how fast the wheels are spinning. They should be spinning faster, if they are spinning too fast, hold the breaks and turn the IDLE SCREW to the left. By doing so this will close the CARB and reduce the idle, thus your wheels will spin slower or even not spin at all. A perfectly tuned engines wheels will not spin and the engine wheel have a calm humm. Take the RC for a spin and once you throttle you want to see a nice cloud of smoke, this shows your engine has enough lube. No smoke means too lean. Additionally you will also know if you are too rich if the pipe spits out engine fuel. A properly tuned engine will spit out minimal fuel and have a nice thick cloud of smoke. Remember, RIGHT=LEAN, LEFT=RICH. That is for the LOW and HIGH NEEDLES. The IDLE SCREW is LEFT=OPENCARB, RIGHT=CLOSE CARB.
Hope this helps.....

BTW, every MFR is different and always make engine adjustment tuning 1 to 2 hours at a time. Look at your tuning needles as a clock. If you notice small hour incriments don't make a change then turn a couple more hours and see if you have a noticable change in tune. Here's are few pic's of my HYPER ST-E. It was once Nitro but recently converted electric.

Thanks for the help. Its running quite well today.

But Idon't know what to do now.

Long story but i've ended up with a Hyper ST RTR ( brand new ) and a second hand HPI savage X 4.6

Question is which one to keep?? and sell the other

The Savage has rota start and my fingers like that. Its a 4.6 engine and flys, but doesnt handle very well.

I have run in the ST this weekend and on the 9th tank of fuel started to learn the mainjet off. Its getting quick. It handles well, doesnt turn very sharp ( don't know if that can be changed )

I'm not going racing and only messing around bashing with what ever car I keep.

Honest options people ? Is the Hyper ST build better or worse ? Savage or Truggy ???

Thanks

Hey i was looking at a better pipe for my hpi savage X ss, it has a k4.6 in it, (basically an axial .28) and i saw the hyper had a similar pipe setup as the savage, i was wondering if the stock pipe would be a good upgrade

Hi Mate

Stick with the Truggy, much better choice, easier to work on and handles better. As for the steering, this is one of the best, if not the best, steering truggies out there. I would look at the steering differntial on the handset and make sure it's turned right up.

From my experience with the Savage and the Hyper ST, the ST was much stronger when we used to bash. Best thing is, if you do decide one day to go down to the track and get hooked, you will be glad you kept the Hyper ST rather than the Savage.
