the thunder tiger ST-1 is a great truggy for the price, they're only about $380 RTR online and will take a fair punishment, and if you want can race fairly well to.

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4504, they list it as a stadium truck, but it's built like a truggy.

Yes, the best for your budget is the TTR ST1, consider also the GS XUT, but that wouldn't be my personal choice. Anything cheaper than those two will be below par.

TTR at amain is listed as a monster truck, like all the truggies. It's a real truggy, don't worry about that.

Best all round truggy though? Xray XT8 or Mugen MBX5t, and yes, you are asking for trouble buying used. Used RC is a real can of worms, unless you really know the experience of the seller and how well they have maintained the car (ie it's from someone you know at the track).

This question is hard to answer, the thread will usually end up as a flame war. IMO, The CEN Matrix is a great truggy for the price. 429 on amainhobbies. Comes with a digital radio and 144oz metal gear ball bearing servos. Check it out.

RE: best all-around 1/8 nitro truggy

Kyosho str and the soon strr, hands down the best truggy. The mbx5t is a close second. I got mine (str) off ebay for 185 shipped, I got a kick *ss deal. The coin I saved went to the big bore shocks, bce chassis and a lipo battery pack. Still under retail price.
If you do ebay, forget the ratings. A seller with 50 might sell stuff better than a klown with 1500. Read the feed back left. If the replies are short, ie great seller or item as discribed, chances are the winning bidder wanted to say I got bicked. If the feed back read, great seller fast shipping would recommened. Another words, more info on feed back the better.
Im rattling, hands down, go for the kyosho, new or used, its the best out.....

A good all round truggy would be an Inferno ST-R...But kinda pricy though.

don't cout out the losi haters...haha naw as long as you didn't buy mammoth, or mantis you're cool...and i can comment on both vehicles because i've owned them and they don't hold up worth anything...I love my losi but kyosho's,mugens, jammins all are very good kits...can't comment on gs or ttr simply because i've never seen em run or had personal exprience..oh yea CEN isn't bad either...please tell us how you liked the ttr after you get some quality time in on her

GS SUT, one tough truggy, and great running engine, by no means the best, but you can have a blast with it, and it will take a beating. Information collected from owning 1.

RE: best all-around 1/8 nitro truggy

I would have to vote for the MBX5T....All the top Truggies are great, and there is more in the setup then the brand of machine....... Every top brand is pretty equaly capable IMHO... Where the Mugen shines is in the price for quality as well as it being so common that parts are easy to find and setup and maintenace advice is readily avaialble... the 5T is insanely durable, easy to drive, and has proven to be extremely reliable..... All the different brands are truly excelent racers , from the 8T to the Hypper ST Pro, but i feel the Mugen is the best machine when you consider its off track performance...meaning parts support and tech info, and overal ease of wrenching, resale value, and the fact it needs pretty much zero hopups etc etc. I have a 5T, had a Matrix TR FTE and a CRT Pro, my best bud has a 8T and I am looking into a Hyper ST Pro as a second machine.....and would gladly own a CRT 2 as well.....

To "MZ". Carbon fibre, aluminum and titanium parts. Alot of the key components have been replaced by either one of those materials for weight, rigidity, durability and stability. If I've missed any words ending "lity" let me konw. hehe
