Different Clutch Shoes
I'm trying to transfer the grunt a little more gently from my GRP .28 to my clutch bell. Until now I've only experimented with different clutch springs using all aluminum shoes. Has anyone had success mixing aluminum and carbon shoes on a 3 shoe clutch? I was thinking of trying (2) aluminum shoes with .9 springs and (1) composite shoe with a .95 clutch spring. Do you think this will smooth out the power delivery quite a bit, and would there be any negative effects of going this route? Any advice would definitely be appreciated.

RE: Different Clutch Shoes
I've wondered this myself. The only thing that has stopped me is not having a way to weigh the shoes. If the weight is off from shoe to shoe I think this would have a negative impact on the motors bearings and such.

X2....lots of guys running .21 or 28's swap up alum's for carbon's.....it totally smooth's out the bottom end punch and also keeps the alum shoes from burring it also keeps the CB 100% clean...but the carbon's will round out way faster then the alum's.

RE: Different Clutch Shoes
dynamite max life with 1.0 springs is plenty smooth. you can really tell the difference right off the bat. i'm not a fan of the teflon shoes cause they either break or wear out to the spring too quick. with the max life shoes you deburr them about once per gallon and they last about 4 gallons. i'm getting ready to try an ae set up with their max life shoes and springs on a hobao fly wheel.
