I am building an RC8te, any feedback on the Turnigy Brushless Car Power System 2350Kv/150A for this car? I am just a basher, this a good move to save 100.00 dollars from buying a Mamba unit?

I have my RC8T-E up for sale if anyone is interested. To many Truggy's. I have two more other then this one....lol. Will sell as complete roller and already assembled.

I converted my Savage X SS using the Kershaw motor mount and a Mamba Monster/2200KV combo. I could tell it was going to trash my three speed transmission so I got an RC8Te kit and put the Savage back together. When I got to the point of mounting the motor and adjusting the spur/pinion mesh in the Te I had to shim (about 0.040) the motor mount/center differential to keep the motor from bottoming out on the chassis. Has anyone else used the 2200KV motor in a Te and had that problem?

My RC8TE uses the 2200 mamba combo and no problems with bottoming out.

It didn't seem right to me at the time so I pulled it back apart and reassembled just to make sure I had done it right and it is installed just like the manual indicates. If I don't install the shims between the center diff and center diff riser there is not enought clearance between the motor and the chassis floor to get a sheet of paper between them much less the motor pad. The part on the motor that is hitting the chassis are the ribs on the motor case. Oh well, I'm going to go back once more and make sure I'm not having a head space timing error. In any case I can't see where the shims will have any negative "mechnical" impact but they do have a negative "mental" impact when they collide with my OCD.

i was thinking about getting one of these in the electric version. i currently have a brushless revo. however i also want the new mini revo. i cant get both and i have to decide between the two. i know that the kit for this car costs as much as the rtr mini revo. which would you get? just wondering. however i have a strange feeling everybody will say rc8te considering this is the rc8te forum. lol. im goin to post the same thing in the mini forum.

I have an RC18T as well as RC8Te. I have to admit the RC18 gets driven more often as I can walk out the door and rip around the driveway.

The Turnigy BL setup is a rebadged Hobbywing EZRun setup. I have the same setup (but Hobbywing) and it runs great! On 4s, it rips and passes nitros on the track. On 6s, I can't even control it as it lifts the front wheels with partial throttle. However, I don't recommend running on 6s as the rpms on the motor would be too high and those motors have been known to fail on 6s. Keep it at 4s and you'll have a happy motor with a reliable and fast setup.

I would think 6s would push that motor to the breaking point as far as RPMs go but it should really be a rocket if you get traction. ~2100 to ~2300 would be best on a 4s setup. This thread needs pics, these are when I was just finishing my RC8T build to electric. I love my truggy.

How much run time are you getting with the EZRun setup? I have the Turnigy one on my RC8Te running a 16t pinion/ 50t spur on 4000mah 4s 25c lipo, and Im only getting 10 minutes run time.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump, this is to all you that have the Rc8te kit, I've been thinking about selling my savage and getting this kit. The reason being is that there is a brand spanking new indoor race track 15 min from me and I really want to get into racing. So to you guys with them, how are they holding up?? Are the plastic parts like the shocks and braces holding up to the abuse? Any complaints about any of the parts on this kit? Thanks

only the shocks need some attention. I glued them together with epoxy, after that no more problems

Cool that sounds great, yeah I haven't really found any negatives about this kit, now I just have to sell my brushless converted savage and everything will be just dandy

I had to replace the plastic shocks and plastic chassis braces. Other than that the kit is pretty solid.

Hey all, just curious of the bashing capabilities of this truck. I'm debating between this and a Savage Flux for strictly bashing. I like the RC8TE because it is a kit, and would like to put it together myself. However, the Savage Flux would give me higher ground clearance as I will be looking to go anywhere with it.

How does the RC8TE handle long grass (football fields, etc) and anyone have experience putting larger MT tires on?
