I really hope this model will come in the colour scheme of the Wuegerstaffel of the JV44, and from the ESM link it appears to be happening. Does anyone have any info on this?

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
Definitely a nice looking plane. However, I cant see it as a 50cc. Its only 80.3" wingspan. In the description, it lists a 30cc engine which would be on the money for this size plane. Heck...even a saito 220 glow motor would be a great engine for this plane.
As for the paint scheme.....its the same basic one as the graupner fw-190 d9. Obviously this ESM is far more scale looking. Im just curious why ESM chose a scheme based on protecting the ME-262's on take offs/landings(the red/white underside).
This scheme has nothing to do with bomber interception or fighter patrol/sweeps.

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
This YT link lists it at 83".
http://www.ytinternational.co.uk/warbird.htm
I fly my 85" TF GS P47 with a 55cc, so a 50cc in this might not be out of the question.
After some original WWII colour photos of planes of the JV44 Wuergerstaffel were discovered in the 1980's, it has become afavourite colour scheme with a great many modelers. The rediscovery of the bright red underside of the planes apparently was a big surprise. Personally, I think it's just terrific.

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
If you look at the specs, They are identical to the specs for their new P-39. I'm thinking that's just a bad cut and paste job for the specs and it's really 83" as stated on the YT website.

I've already stated my piece on this bird.
Couldn't have picked a more common Dora paint job...
And as to the outline and shape, no comment, haven't seen a good side, front and overhead image yet.

you where PMd for information about for our birds, i think a CD was promised, after several emails, nothing ever came of it, did it? so why take a complaining stance now?even before its released???????????

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
I think I need one too. Strange why ESM tells us the history of the Dora on that web page? I know the history in GREAT detail.
I am interested in close up pictures of the model, inside out. And data. Of the model.
Very very interested. I can allways paint over those red stripes underneath. Mine would be Dortemans's.

Yes, and I clearly remember asking for an address, and even mentioned that I would pay for the shipping. Never got the address.
But I find its quite typical of the ARF folks, offer free no strings attached help to make things better, and nothing ever comes of it.

I like that it is 1/5 scale, but wish it was all composite like the original A8. With the D9 in an all composite, I would think it would balance rather nicely.
Waiting for close ups, undecided at this time, really want to build a scale one but dont have the time. This one has great potential.

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
The history on ESM's site is a bit off.
1.) 1805 D-9s were produced from August 1944 to the end of the war.
2.) The Fw 190 D9 did not enter combat duty until the Fall of 1944
3.) The DB 603 engine was not used mostly due to the fact it required more changes to the fuselage and fittings, the Jumo 213 required less changes. The 603 wasn't fitted to the Bf 109 or Bf 110, it was fitted to the several Do birds (the 335, and the 217), the He 219 and then later the Ta 152C (not the H)

If you have not flown a Dora yet, well I just have to say your missing out on a great flying airplane! A pattern ship in a Wulf's clothing. I had over 300+ flights on my Holman Dora, now owned by my buddy Todd who in fact have over 50+ flights on her, if Todd can have more than 1 flight on it u can too! LOL . Just be sure you stay away from the orange fence and tumble weeds you will be fine 4 sure!

Even though like most, I would've liked a different scheme, It's nice to know that I'm one step closer to not building another 1/5th FW190 kit and hearing it from the wife. With the ARF, we both get what we want.. I get the bird and she gets a cleaner room which I may lose after this ARF comes out...

RE: New ESM butcher bird....
I have a Sist Dora with a zenoah G-45. (Temporarly moved back from the front line to a service unit for some major surgery)
It weights 11.5 kg if I remember correctly.
What is nice with the G-45 is that it fits completely inside the cowling. Just a tiny bit more power would be nice.
I wonder how close that weight estimate is. ESM misses somethimes on their estimates, but maybe not on this one.
Who knows?
A classic Dora paint-scheme which I like;

Well nothing is going to fit inside that D9, maybe an electric or less than a 30cc . A moki 1.80 still need cutting on the Holman D9. No problem on the 190As but a motor with a side intake and side exhaust will eat the D9's fuselage behind the cowl like crazy.
