Default Engine selection, Mick Reeves 1/6 Spitfire

Hello Jim!

Well for the larger planes gas engines could obiusly be used...but converting a Super-Tigre 25cc engine to gas is not what I would use in warbird as the 74" or 88" spitfire....the reason is that this engine does not have a needlebearinged conrod!!!! This is were heat is going to be a problem if you take out much horsepower!!
For a CUB it might work, but certainly no for a fighterplane!
Secondly this engine is to large and heavy for the 74" spit!!
Brian Taylor has a 70" spitfire and he recommends a 10-15cc( .61-.90)engine ,and I agree with him totally! No bigger than that!
If you want to run a gas engine get a bigger aircraft......The yellow aircraft spit or something in that size...forget any glowengine that is converted to gas (if it hasnīt got needleberings on itīs conectingrod)
The MVVS 1.60 engine could be had both in gas and
glow configuration and both has needlebearings.
I would stay with glowpower..for smaller models itīs easier !

Regards!
Jan

JGrc,

What material did you use to make your exhaust stacks?

They look great!
