Get teh easytiger arf. I have one, and I love it. Then you can paint it the way you like. They also have a P-51b. I think you can order plain white if you want.

RE: Giant Scale P-47 Tuskeegee Airmen's
(1) Top Flite GS P-47 kit
(2) A ZDZ 80 or Saito FG57T engine
(3) Airtronics SD-10G radio w/ three Airtronics 94746 servos & seven 94755's.
(4) Robart Retracts 622-P47 for the front & either Robart's 160LWC or Century Jet's retracts for the tail.
Gents....would love any feedback on kit / engine / radio / retract combo.
(1) Top Flite GS P-47 kit - general consensus favorable so I will get this kit
(2) A ZDZ 80 or Saito FG57T engine - Anyone have thoughts? Beginning to think the ZDZ may be a bit much; not sure about the Saito
(3) Airtronics SD-10G radio w/ three Airtronics 94746 servos & seven 94755's. - are the servos ok?? Specs seem to show enough power but not sure
(4) Robart Retracts 622-P47 for the front & either Robart's 160LWC or Century Jet's retracts for the tail. read a post that says 622-P47's are not that good. What do you say?
Again..Thanks for everyones input!!!!!!

The Easytiger P47 is a bubble top and he wants a razorback. Me too. Also, the video shows only an e powered plane. How do you power yours vallawyer?

But the guy says he does not want an arf but a kit anyway. Irecommend Bob Holman or Ziroli plans and have the parts cut by someone and have fun. There are not a lot of complete kits out there today, its not like the old days.

Nice project. I'm looking forward to your build and the "in service" detail you give her. Shinny war birds just don't do it fore me.
Sierra gear is top shelf if you can get them. I think CJ may be more scale looking than Robart, but either will require more maintenance than Sierra. I have CJ in a 49lb Meister and after 40 flights, they live, but not without some working on. The cylinders are not the problem. It is the trunnion and the strut insert and the constant shimming to keep them tight. We had new steel parts machined this winter that should address this issue with ours.
Your ship will weight far less so I suspect you will be fine. The CJ tail gear in ours has not been a problem.
Good move to seek advice here. These guys possess a wealth of knowledge and are very passionate about these planes. You will get a lot of help.

I have a zdz 80 in mine, weighs about 32#s, runs great, yet to fly it this spring. not looking for a screamer but I want it to pull well, so all that is needed to control the speed is the prop choice.

Great looking Razorback. I hope to revisit a 1/4 scale 47 that needs to be finished. It is from Don Smith plans and it has been on the shelf for nearly 6 years. Kinda lost interest after radio signal caused the lost of my Corsair. However, after seeing some pics and reading this thread about the P-47, I may just have the motivation needed to get it finished.

Thank you for doing a Red Tail P-47.
It disappoints me to no end that both movies about this famous unit completely leave out the P-47 part of their history. Why can't they CGI P-47s just as easy as P-40s. Just irresponsible history telling IMO.
Anyway, I'm a follower for sure. Love this history and love the P-47.

Here she is being pulled around at no more than 1/2-3/4 throttle. I only consumed roughly 1/3 tank per round. The FG60R3 has plenty of power. She weighs 32lbs with full fuel and smoke oil.

Well said Warhammer34. Just like the all Black 761st Tank Battalion fought under General Patton, very seldom are they talked about. My father, a member of the 761st, once told me about the "fat" airplane (P-47). I have never forgotten that statement. I too love the P-47. I am currently building the Avenger here on RCU. Chic
