Jack Stafford P-39D Kit Questions
Acquired a 42 yr old Stafford P-39 kit and have a few areas I'd like some enlightenment on.
If anyone out there has ever built this kit, I'd appreciate some insight.
1) Retracts: Nose gear specifically. Plans show Goldberg mechanicals. However, I'd want to use pneumatics and wonder about firewall placement. Cutting into the leading edge of the wing seems the only alternative and I wonder if anyone else faced this challenge.
2) Aileron servos: Plans show the "old" torque rod set up and I wonder if dual servos mounted outboard wouldn't be a better solution?
3) Flaps?
4) Flying qualities?
Thanks!
