Wonder if you would be better off running a catch tank with a dump on the collector ring bottom?

I'm surprised that your Saito throws that much oil. I have several 4 strokes, and they run fairly clean. In fact, the OS FT 160 runs very clean, and with the exhaust extensions just peeking out of the cowl you have to look for any oil residue. Just wondering what fuel you are running, and what oil content?
Stickbuilder - I'm running Coolpower synthetic 15%. Here's my theory for the gooey fuselage: Since the exhaust enters the collector ring at one end, (lower left side), then has to travel approx. 240 degrees to the other end, with six little outlets, ( I know, the original had like 7 stacks), to relieve pressure, I believe that what oil is not burned collects on the inside surface of the exhaust ring until it gets too thick to stick...and then blows out in little droplets...so for the first minute or two of operation, there is not much oil spit out....only after it collects, puddles and spits does it start to accumulate on the fuselage/tail. Who's to say?...just a theory.
Here's a trick that you may like. I use it when I'm running a 4 stroke. One is plumbed to the exhaust collector/muffler, and the other is attached to the crankcase vent/drain with a T fitting that is connected to the tank vent.

I am impressed with the muffler but I thought I was going to read that it fell apart vs the complaint about the residue . I did a lot of research on the set up for my FW190 bash and most of the research led me to believe that the welds would not be able to take the heat .

OK, now that is about the coolest thing I have seen awhile. The pilots head is way cool. I did this on a Cap 21 years ago and tied it to the rudder. Crashed the plane, but still have the head.

The canopy is nice as well. I'd like to see how you do it.

Thanks! I figured I'd hook it up to the ailerons to start (easy enough to change) so I could take some in flight video looking back at him and thought the ailerons would give more animation.

As for the sliding canopy this is the first I've done that actually operated and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Pics 1 + 2: Used brass rails with slots cut in them for the tracks. Ball links slide in these connected to two 2-56 rods with carbon tubes going to the air cylinder.
Pics 3 + 4: show the underside air cylinder to actuate the rods. The canopy is set up on its own small tank and valve slaved off the flap channel.
Pics 5 - 9: The kit canopy is very thin and brittle so I used it to cast a mold for the carbon fibre frame. I used a new canopy from VQ models which is thicker, but it's made from the original as a plug so my CF frame is a perfect fit inside it. I cut the front off after the canopy was glued to the fuse and the frame.

Hope that helps describe the process.

The last 2 pictures show the gear layout inside and a cover I made to protect all the gear from the lines that connect to the wing (ailerons, flaps, retracts, and sound) once the wing is joined.

Here is an ASM B-17 getting destroyed. Still under destruction.

Still in the works. Just need to wire in the batteries and install the bomb bay.

You guys just awe me! I love coming on the tread to see the pictures of what you all have done with the ARF's, And you are making these beautys your own! Me I just love airplanes and do build but would love to be in the pits when anyone of these were flown! You guys inspire me to get started on my Hangar 9 Spitfire I had ended up with in a deal. Soon as I finish two kits and they are almost done I will get on it . Allot of great idea's here, This has been an eye opening thread that I have very much enjoyed what I have seen here. Thanks for sharing all the picture with us!

My girlfriend told me if I gave up RC airplanes I would have time for other things, WHAT OTHER THINGS?
