RE: silver alumium paint
Benjiman Moore has recently come out with a latex metallic silver paint. The color chip looks very good. I have used other BM latex paints in the past with great results but I have not used any of their metallic line yet. I plan on making some test panels one of these days. Dan.

RE: silver alumium paint
Haven't looked lately but Behr had a really nice silver latex at one time. There was some talk of Behr dropping it but don't know the outcome.
I've also used a couple of the different chrome spray bombs that gave a nice finish. Just got to experiment with em. Some give a near brand spanking new aluminum finish, others a more slightly weathered look, sorta dull aluminum.
I did my VQ P-38 in I think it was Rustoleum spray chrome.

Natural aluminum airplanes come in many different varieties. What are you trying to duplicate? In other words, what did the orgional look like? Was it polished, or did it look like it was just left to go dull? Did it have a weathered appearancer with very apparent paneling?
Any of these differances would affect your decision on what paint to use. After you decide what look you want, test several different products until you find what you want. Glossy or dull, satin or dead flat?
I like to use epoxy paints on my glow powered models. When I finished my BigAssBird II P-47, I tried to match the photos I had of the full scale. It appeared that when it was restored, the aluminum had not been polished, but was dull old aluminum. However the painted cowl and name was new paint and appeared glossy. I used a half and half satin and gloss catalist in the aluminum paint and then buffed it with 0000 steel wool prior to the addition of the red trim and other painted surfaces like the stars and bars which were glossy. By rubbing each panel with the 4/0 steel wool in different directions, you can make the panels look very realistic. I don't know how that might work on latex, however.
Just a few things to consider.

I've said this a few times on here; if you want paint to look like real metal there is only one product out there... alclad II
It is expensive, but well worth the extra $$$

Rustoleum silver chrome. With a grey base coat and a black chalk board base coat. Also can have shaded panels if you tape off a panel and use a car wax to change the shade. Enamel Silver tends to change shades even with if rubbed with a finger. Try it.

Steve, Can you use regular Rustoleum for trim colors over their Silver Chrome? Dan.
