The Firgelli L-16 actuators came in today ... mounted up and working great .. in this case, throwing $$ at the problem made it a lot easier lol .. I still feel guilty for giving up on the pulley cable system ! lol [&o] ( what a mess that was !!! [:'(] )

I think I will also try to do this with the ScaleWings LA-7 that Iam getting ready to start.

Does anyone have a engine baffling template for the Moki 250 fitted on the CARF P-47? My moki runs hot in my CARF Corsair and want to try baffling on my P-47.
Thanks
Tim

I have been thinking of baffling as well as a few people have reported overheating ... For those that have dealt with baffling a radial, do the baffles have to be right smack between the cylinders ? or can they be slightly behind ? the reason I ask is because if i go with a baffled set up, i would like to add 5 dummy cylinder heads behind the MOKI to look like a second ring of cylinders and not look like plain old ugly baffles... theoretically, this should still affect the airflow .. ? any ideas ? opinions ? I might post this in the MOKI thread as well ...

RE: CARF-Models P-47 Thunderbolt
Hello
I also build the CARF P47. At the moment i try to install the canopy mechanism. I use the one from scalewings La-7. It is working fine, but i'm a little bit concerned about the air consumption. Does anybody know how many times u can move the retracts if u use the pneumatic kit from CARF?
@ wojtek! Nice Idea! This can be an alternative. Unfortuneately i've to pay 20% extra tax if i order them. Which gear ratio did u used?
Thanks in advance
René

René , I used the 63 ratio .. i could have gone faster as these are quite strong ... they are shipped from Canada, so I don't know if that might make any difference in the import fees to you ??
I keep getting side tracked by more and more details on this thing ! lol ...

RE: CARF-Models P-47 Thunderbolt
I am finishing up on some remaining scale details ....
I got a few resin cast parts from Dino at Aero-Accessories ( Meister Scale ) which i do have to say are quite nice .. The pitot tube is fitted on a brass tube, whcih slides into another brass tube in the wing .. this way its easily removable for transport .
The hand holds and step doors are finally done! what a pain those were to fit ( made from g10 glass board, and scrap glass pieces from canopy cut outs )
The wing needed some attention too .. Scale strut door doors fitted with mini robart hinges .. and while i was at it, i rigged up the dive brake .. It will be functional via a flex cable actuator ...
The wing tip lens was easier to make than i though. I found that Midwest Lexan wirked best. It has a peel away liner which can be kept on while heating/shaping. This way you get crisp clear lense covers, and no scratches or marring. The rudder light is an aluminum tube, icing, sanded, and a LED cover lens ..

Here you go Scott ... they have all the info on their web site ...
http://store.firgelli.com/ProductDet...ductCode=L16-P
and you need the control board per each ( $20 each if bought with actuator ) I would go with the faster gear ratio for a canopy, as these are plenty strong ... unles you need it for a control surface .. either way, here are all the specs on size, power , etc ...

Voy! [:@] What are you doing here, go back to your forum!!
What a *&^% project. This has gotten me drooling since page 1. I'm getting myself a warbird. I miss having a reliable prop to play with. Looking into an ESM D9 50cc. I've had D9's in the past and they remind me of legacy pattern ships. They fly so good.
Beautiful bird, congratulations!!

RE: CARF-Models P-47 Thunderbolt
I got drop tanks for the P-47 from Dino at Meister scale, as well as the hang/drop mechanism for the pylons. These are just perfect for the P-47. I will post pics when I have some primer on them. The pylons that came with the CARF package were just plain, and they definitely needed some detailing up .. This is almost wrapping up the P-47 ready for final finish .... after that its onto the cockpit, gear bays, other details, and parts assembly, plumbing, programing , etc ...

RE: CARF-Models P-47 Thunderbolt
Hi Fifou,
you can find them in the P-47 accessories page .. I can post some pictures of them later ... They are pretty big, and nice and solid ( good for dropping and not worrying about them getting damaged )

RE: CARF-Models P-47 Thunderbolt
Hi: the scale additions are very cool and well made. I especially like the boarding handles. One question on putting in dive brakes, though. The dive brakes weren't added until the -30 RE series a bit later in the war, and were not installed on any D model razorbacks. They do look very cool though, especially if you have them actually actuate.
Nice job on your model so far. I am hoping to get one myself, someday.

Davegee ,
lol, yea, i know the "D" that i am modeling did not have the dive brakes ... However imgoing more for the scale "neat" factor over accuracy. I don't intend to be competing, so im just going for the cool factor of how much I can pile onto this plane
also, attached is a pic of one of the Meister Scale drop tanks. Its pretty large !

Wojtek;
Those firgelli actuators looks real nice.
Could you endulge us in a photo of the unit with the rod fully extended, and then fully retracted?
Because I really dont understand how that thing is working. Does the rod "come out" on the other side????

Kwik,
I cant get photos now as i put the parts away ( plane is getting taken out for finish and trim tomorrow ) , but the video i had posted before will give you the best idea of how these work and how i set them up in my application ..

fifou, for the attachment assembly, i used this part from Meister :
http://www.meister-scale.com/Thunder...ankRelease.jpg
you can hook up a servo to it and have it also drop the tanks in the air I have mine burried inside of the pylon. I will end up making my own sway bars out of aluminum tubing ..

Very cool! I wish you the best on this, and I look forward to more progress pictures and your impression of how the plane flies and acts in the air and on the ground. I hope to make my own model of it sometime, possibly later this year.
Best of luck!
Davegee
Best of luck!
