Went through and added carbon tape, fiberglass and resealed all glue joints with Hysol before starting the build. With a Moki 250 hanging off the front off any warbird its going to snap there. Just bring your A-game and keep the Moki well maintained and tuned. IMO this P47 is built as good as can be without doubling the cost and weight. If the nose breaks off most likely the cause will be me.

The other area I would reinforce is right along the sides of the cockpit. I know the bolts spread the load through the wings, but its still a lot leverage against that center section especially in the case of a harder landing ... ( engine and tail pulling down on either side, and straining the little vertical material from the wing joint up to the lip of the cockpit. I gainded under 1/2 lb in reinforcements, but at least I feel a lot better about it one
I really like your scheme also ! very unique
all best,

Thanks,
I like the scheme as well, but lots of work. I'm a bit past that point on the reinforcement suggestion. See your concern but hope not to make that hard of a landing... This is the second Comp ARF P47 I have built the first is flying and has had very minor problems. I will be flying this off of pavement for the most part so hope not to have any hard landings. Please look at my post on the elevator modification for this plane it's well worth the time. It is on this thread a few pages back. I witnessed this control setup fail in four flights. Not saying all will fail, but this woke me up!

Hi Justjets,
I like what you have done with the baffle. Would you happen to have a template of your baffle that you could share? I will post some pics of my functional cowl flaps later today.

Phil, I will look for your elevator mod. I made some changes as well reinforcing the shaft mounting area.. thanks for the reminder to keep a lookout on this !

Hi Guys,
I am in the process of building my CARF P47. I noticed in Just Jets pictures that he has managed to take the elevators off from the stabilisers. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
How do you remove the hinge pin?
Thanks, Adam.

You should be able to take a small pin and push out the hinge pin. They have a small hole at each end, when your model is complete make sure to secure the pin. I use rubber glue to seal the hole and make a slight bend near one of the ends to create some binding at the tip of each pin also.

The baffle you can get through Gutz Fogelsang at Aeroscale. You may need to call not sure if this part is listed on web site. Trim to fit and add filler near the lower area as shown in photos.

Two advantages to the 7 cylinder... it fills the space more completely, which adds to the scale engine illusion AND with its smaller diameter, it can be spaced further forward which allows for more scale propeller positioning out in front of the cowl. I agree the plane does NOT require more power than the 250 5 cylinder, AND the 5 is the BEST sounding model radial out there!
