Detail photo of a DR1
Help please guys. I need a detail shot of the midwing fairing(all around especially at the trailing edge) on a DR1. I know there are no actual DR1s around anymore but does someone have an old phot around or a shot of a reproduction DR1 that may be accurate?
Thanks much in advance.

I hope these will help. If not, this plane and Ithink, several other DR-1's (probably replicas) are about a 80 minute drive. There is a $20.00 entrance fee into the mesuem. If neccessary, I'll take as many photos as you need for $35.00 to cover my gas and entrance fees.

Dave search my 1:1 scale build threads on the Scale forums here and at RC groups I have the photos from what Todd posted since I'm helping with the build. We're based at Grimes airfield in Bethel PA (EXIT 15 off of Rte 78 15 miles west of Cabelas). also look up the GAAM Triplane build on Theaerodrome.com the sheetmetal is detailed there as well.

That last Triplane is a prettystandardSands airplane and the ailerons are modified with direct pushrods and torque tubes. So the sheet metal is not accurate. It is Cool Though I spent a bit of time with the guys from VAFM at Osh last year Andy Parks, Andrew King (D8)Bob Coolbaugh (D7)and Mark Holliday (Triplane)are good guys.

RE: Detail photo of a DR1
I'm bashing the Discontinued Great Planes .60 Fokker DR1 ARF like many of you know. I've read many books and done a lot of research on the actual Fokker DR1. What I come to understand is that not every Fokker DR1 was the same. Besides the factories lacking major quality control ( like some ARF aircraft manufactures) many pilots and ground crew altered the planes to fit the pilot. Access hatches were at times altered to ease maintenance. Either it was to improve flight preformance, and or the lack of available parts at hand, many opted out from using the Oberusel and used engines like the LaRhone and the Clerget. Many captured props were used over the Axial, some had wind screens added, cockpits were altered for the short and tall pilots etc. The list goes on.
The last couple of months of manufacture, Fokker added more gauges in the cockpit and if you study most of the surviving clear photos, not every cowl was the same. Only the first 2 prototypes didn't have wing skids. (F1 102/17 and the F1 103/17)
In the begining of the Fokker DR1's intro, there was no padding placed on the butts on the Spandau's until shortly after pilots started to have facial injuries do to bad landings- and or bad crashes.
The thing I don't like with the modern day replicas is they have tail wheels and way too many gauges. Or the gauges are placed in a wood grain panel that didn't exist in the actual Fokkers. To me these things takes authenticity and the spirit right out of it. JMHO
Also, the guns sit way too high on the fuse. But since I don't live to far from Rhinebeck, NY and flown full size aircraft there ( not Fokker Dr1's) so I have to admit I'm spoiled.
So it is my opinion that no one can get the scale details exact for the Fokker DR1 because no 2 were exactly the same. To me that makes building and flying these planes fun, I can do so many things with this plane and get away with it as long I have enough proof to show the judges and those who contest what I found in the research.
Have fun with your build!
Pete
