Another note if you plan to do this setup with your retract, make sure the retract is in the center point of its movement prior to attaching to the servos or you'll have some serious pulling tention when trying to retract the unit in its center point. Hope this makes sence.[8D]

Here is the link to the canopy video. I've yet to install the plastic as I'm hoping an aftermarket version will be available in the future.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE_3yl5EMZM

I hope I've helped in the areas questioned on this kit. The rest of the build on my kit will be plain and simple or seen already. Otherwise I look forward to seeing everyone's progress on your FW190D's and wish those of you the best in your builds. I'll finish her and possibly do another scheme as I'm sure this will be a popular ARF. Once all has been done on mine, I'll post a video of her and of the flights.

Until then....[8D]

Ram, Thanks for all the advice.

KMP sez that their Fw 190 D9 ARF is in the same container as the ESM 190 D9. The container is supposed to be released next Thursday if I understood them correctly. Pics of the production KMP should be available very soon.

$1.00 (I'm a big spender) says it's identical to the ESM D-9.

Cheers,

I agree and the sad thing is that it may possibly cost $100 bucks or more just for the paint job and it's KMP. Why do you pay so much more for the same products at KMP?

Anyway, I still look forward to seeing it If I'm not looking at it now.

It's unfortunate, but my experience and that of some of my fellow modellers as regards KMP pricing and service has not been good. Personally I will not be buying any more of their products. I'd just as soon re-paint the ESM D-9 to my choice of markings.

Cheers,

Ok, I know I stated that the rest of the build would be basic but I wanted to post this little information on the push rod for the elevator. I went with a carbon rod instead of the pull-pull as mentioned prior and used those ball connectors 440 with some JB weld. The arms are laminated Fliteskin making them about 1/8th thick. These will be JB welded later. With the tail retract and the cockpit clearances; I’ve decided to run it in the position seen in the picture with the arms facing up over the top of the horizontal stabilizer tube. This gives me excellent clearance to the elevator servo.

I’m sure this is the last major mod.

Ram,

If you stop posting, currently there is no one else...

KMP Fw 190 D9 pic posted earlier looked to be an entirely different ARF. I take up the dollar bet and say the plane will be different...not just the color, but the actual fuse mold. The cowl they showed didn't appear to have any panel lines. Couldn't see any on the fuse either. Don't think they could change all that in such a short time period.

Of course these ARFs aren't made here. None of us wants to work for 25 cents an hour. Trouble is, our manufacturing jobs are gone.
Result: low cost goods that no one can afford to buy.

So I plan on getting one now, before all my energy is required just to pay my taxes....

Hi,

I agree with corsair183 - you are the only person posting on the building one of these and it's great to learn from you. I hope to get one when they arrive in the UK (would be even better with a different colour scheme but that's another story) so please keep on posting, including how it flies when you get it finished.

Cheers,

Al aka airfix

No worries, I'll post when I see something on the kit that needs to be put out there and of it flying characteristics. I've been looking through my references for a better scheme for this one.

Hey Corsair183 - your on for the $1.00 if it does not violate any RCU rules. I'm just going by what's on the KMP site today.

Cheers

That is a nice version but you'd go through a lot to customize this ARF to that version. My personal favorite is this one.

Ram
Great job and thanks for all your info. Re your l"ast major mod" comment? Wouldn't be too sure on that. After all it's an ESM and you have to do all the engineering yourself! LOL (sort of....)
Anyway, again, great job.

Funny you say that Mobyal. Last night I found a somewhat simple way to convert this ARF into a D11-13. I've contacted ARFpros to se if I can get just the fuse. They'll get back to me Monday to see what we can work out. Worse case, I'll get a second kit and flip it to a D11. I like the D13 but I feel it's over played when D11's get so little recognition and I've only seen the one I built in an RC.

A little more work on the cockpit kit. Added some minor details and made my own gun sight from balsa and styrene. Still waiting for the stick to dry and the canopy handle

Yeah Ram, It's looking really good. Your proposed color scheme change is also a good one. It is graphic, not too busy, nice color and combination. It looks elegant, aggressive and appropriate all in one...

KMP sez my plane will be shipped this week. It will be the ESM...

Thanks gents.

Corsair, Great news on the purchase. Just one question.. Any special reason you went with KMP's ESM model??

Just curious with others selling it for less.

Did you ever get the pictures of KMP's version??

I look forward to your progress.

My cockpit is complete, I just need to mount the canopy which will happen later today. Then complete the horizontal stab installation and place the rest of my gear in.

I do plan on flying this prior to a new paint scheme. I leard this the hard way.[&o]

I need to finish this and move back to other builds.
