RE: ESM FW D-9
I spent the last day or so working on the horizontal stab installation. I had about a 1/16 gap between the fuse and the stab
matter what I did to rectify it. So instead of using epoxy, I used hysol to strengthen this area and fill the gap.
So when those of you building this get to this area, please show me that I was the lucky one! []

There was no incidence according to the instructions and just like the wing, there is a guide which aligns up these little support dowels on the stab/fuse. So I'm assuming that it wasn't as square as previously thought as I tested the area prior with the dowl and with the little wooden dowls. I'm wondering if the metal tube was off a tad.
I pushed them together almost to the point of breaking it.[:@]
Well, It's on stronger then ever now...

Oh I see. Not like the usual assembly style.
Anyone interested in a Aero Detail #2 FW 190 D9 book? I have an extra copy I bought by accident so I'll sell it. PM if interested it's an awesome book loaded with info and a fold out line drawing page. All of the markings and color chips are covered too. I can post a photo later but I figured you guys following this build might like this book.
Now off to FHC to see the FW fly on Saturday!!

RE: ESM FW D-9
The newspinner looks right, the other spinner looks like a A6M zero spinner, but works. Im looking for a 4-1/2" P-51 spinner that has the screws around it to the backplate but are hard to find.
I had the same problem with the stab/fuse on my P-51not going together right, so i got some screws the same size as the wood dowels (mybe a little longer) threaded on each end and used them instaed of the dowels and then used washers and nuts in the fuse to pull it together tight.

I did a dry-fit of mine when I got it at the beginning of May, and was very pleased with the tight fit of the tailfeathers. Building will have to wait until the flying season is over up here, winter-project. Thanks for all the great hints you've beenproviding so far.Like you, I will be using a DLE55.

P47, just make sure you double check the metal tube when everything’s ready to be final glued, that's when I got my surprise [X(][:@]
I'm surprised I've had so much time to work on this bird having more responsibilities since the wife left. I wonder what the problem was prior..lol
I've all the electronics in the Dora other then the switches, all the controls on the fuse completed and have started installing the exhaust. These guys are really tight in there so make sure you have some touch up paint ready. I'm debating making them more scale looking by opening them up with my Dremel. I still need to install the controls on the wing but need to buy more 440 and carbon rod tubing.
On the rudder, I did install another robart hinge for more security at the bottom as the instructions only had three, I also notched the hinge points on the rudder to get the 1mm gap between the rudder and stab.

So much for "model of distinction"

I noticed VQ is selling the Sierra gear for this plane. Are these a standard FW 190, 1/5 th scale gear? I was going to order a set from Sierra for an upcoming TA 152 build, and think it might be easier to just order them from VQ. I will be building the Andersen TA 152 H. I hope this is the right gear. I think it will save me some time.

Thanks Ram. That is what I thought. This was also verified by Thomas. He got me a very quick reply. That is really good news, as I am not sure when I can pull the trigger on the gear, and it will be nice to know I can get them relatively quick from VQ if they have them in stock.
The D9 is looking really good by the way. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Any more updates Ram??
I am expecting My Dora to arrive into the country some time next week. Of course this week I've have to shell out $$$$$ to have the roof of the house replaced so it couldn't have arrived at a worse time[:@]
But I am keen to see how your progressing with yours.
Thanks
dave

Working on the wings weak spots like the gear wells and reinforcing the wing joint with glass. I also glassed some of the plastic parts and currently placing some formers under the plastic parts that blend the bottom of the wing into the fuse for added strenght.
I'll post when completed.
