Looks really good! What did you use for weathering?
Thanks Ram,

I used artist chalks applied with a bit of sponge and silver humbrol, dry brushed and applied with wire wool.

Thanks, looks really good in the air! Flying is out for me as the weather has been to unpredictable here as it may be nice by my home and severly windy at the field which is the case most of the time now that winter is here.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I can find the supplies to make mine look as good

I'd love to know what you guya are getting with RPM and prop sizes/types. Anyone got any figures??

I'm managing 5400ish on a menz 22x10, and I want more!!

Mine is now maidened btw I still gotta fit the leg doors.

Shes a beauty Mud!!!! The plug cap is not that big a deal either, glad to see it since mine will be the same...I also like the antenna giving that little vertical stab support a purpose. On the prop Mud, try a 19x12 or 20x10 2 blade

Nice Job Mud

If anyone decides to run electric on this plane, Hobbyking now has a 50cc turnigy rotomax motor for $190

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html

Suggested Prop: 24x12 Majzlik / 26x12 APC on a 10s lipo

My XYZ is dodgy, have carried out all sorts of tests it appears I am not getting the power everyone else is as one cylinder has bad compression, I need so source spares but HK don't list any.

Anyone out there have any ideas?? I neeed a cylinder and piston ring I think...

I Muds If you are still getting 5400 shes way under on a test bed i pulled 7200 with a 22x10 prop again in saying that i belive sometimes the size and pitch is irelavant ive seen wide virations in RPM with same sized props but diffrent makes glad you found that ring Muds HK is not a great parts place

Well gents, I enjoyed building mine but now it's time to let her go as I have way too many FW190's. She'll be posted up later for those locally interested.

I'll be there but not to sell this bird. I've seen how it's a buyers market and even the best go for dirt cheap![X(] I'll be shopping maybe.

Oh yah, I remember, you are in this to make a small profit. Still do not see how that is possible as my time is worth a lot to me. Even then, most RCers are pretty cheap and I rarely see planes sell for their actual value. Good luck.

No my friend.. Don't be confused, I'm not in this to make a profit as I know thats not possible but I'm not in this to be screwed either. There is a difference. And your right about a lot of RC people being cheap. If I was asking for my time, there would be more zeros behind it..lol. I'm figuring anyone that knows what is in the plane knows what it's worth and my plane is looking for that person that understands this and wants to save the time and save a few bucks.. No my friend.. This isn't a cheap hobby and I didn't build my bird cheaply!

These thing need to be understood! those that don't,need to build their own their way. Everyone wants a good deal... I do too but I feel this is one. As for the auction, that's where you take a chance. You know how they set reserve prices to prevent being setup.. Well, I just don't want to share my efforts with jeffco as they get a lot of it or places like eBay. I did it therefore I deserve to reap all the benefits of it. Anything I just don't care about can go to jeffco as that where people take their items they care less about hoping to earn a few bucks.. And that about all you get for your efforts there.

I had a friend of mine ask me to build him one and make the canopy function.. I told him it'll cost 250 total.. He laughed at it and went to what he called a professional just because they owned a hobby shop.. They told him they'd charge him 1000 just to make the canopy function. When he came back to me, I denied him to prove a point!

Off topic, I know of several item which have been on site where the seller was asking roughly 7000 over what he had Ito the item. I've seen this several times. This is not the case for this one..you'll actually be saving about $400 at my asking and you have all the hardware I felt too cheap or risky to use..lol.

Hey Guy's

I'm back, belated Merry christmas and a happy new year to you all!! I have been poping in here regularly and keeping an eye on the thread but with the christmas holidays I managed to work on the house nearly every day, and get next to nothing done on my models[&o]
I ddi fix the issue with having no HD video footage of the Fw-190 flying. I bough a HD camera for myself wifey was all appologetic about not having bought me a present, but I went, " no problems at all, love!"

Mud, the pic's just look fantastic! re: PRM on the XYZ, I'm lony gettting about 5600 out of mine with the TBM 22x10 prop, but it seems to haul the model around ok. No massive verticals though. I have just finished the breaking in fuel and have mixed the first batch of Amisol at about 80:1 and 98 octane fuel so I'm just about to go pick up some of the boys and test it all out.

will report back when I get home.

Thanks

dave

While I wait for the HK rings to turn up I got hold of a new Zenoah 26 piston ring, it fits well and compression seems to be up by quite a bit, I'll run it up later and report back.

Too bad these web-shops do not understand that customers needs more information.

Like here;
http://store.octopusrc.com/Piston-Unit

That 53cc piston...could it be for the XYZ 53cc boxer? Dia is 44 mm....

There is one 26cc made by XYZ, dia 34 mm. Could that be the one? I think so....

Hi Kwik,

I saw those and ordered one, 34mm is correct.

I've been testing, menz 22x10 - 5900
Menz 22x8 - 6600

'good' pot on it's own 3100
'New Ringed' pot 2800 on it's own, I'm hoping the ring will wear in and give a little more in time.

Well made 2 gun covers the first I wasn’t happy with the 2nd yeh she’s all good wings finished and stab done all glassed ready to fit,
sierra retracts I had to cut down by 10 mm rather than cut in to the retract wells and leave nothing in the middle just started the sliding canopy it’s a job but now know where im heading after a lot of head scratching have got my Glennis wheels (very nice) when you do a canopy you also need to do the cock pit at the same time to work out sliding distance etc I made my own rails out of k+S brass square cutting a 1.5 mm slot over 12inches it’s a slow build but hey im in no rush with a few planes up the sleeve to fly lol over all im enjoying the build I had to cut the cowl and put in 4 x10mm segments to make it bigger all around so that the twin will fit I don’t want any thing showing and the plugs would have protruded had I not expanded it a tad over all its turned out well am going to use 60 nylon covered SS trace wire on the pull pull set up this was the same as I used on the A8 I pulled out all that tube for the wire guides as it junk like the whole idea of pull pull is not friction and then they put it in tubes ( work that one out lol ) the spinner is from SD hobby’s I had a SIST spinner but its just a tad to big they also do a smaller one I think about 3’’ something inches for the A8 have ordered a air ram from hobby king so hoping that will be here this week as I need it to put the sliding canopy together mean time ill finish the cock pit put it in and do a quick paint touch up so I can see something for the effort the wings ill do in undercoat then fly it a few times then do rivets and detail once I have her sorted out in the air

Hey Stick,

Looking good there mate! The SDS spinner is a better fir than I expected, and for the $$, a fantastic fit! [X(]. I'm not looking forward the the sliding canopy mod for mine so I'll be watching yours very closely to get ideas from. I have also realised that once I start with the sliding canopy, I won't be able to strap it to the roof of the car like i currently do, because the straps pass over the rear of the canopy so I'll have to do something different there too.

Hey Mud,

What fuel are you running to get those figures?

I've cleared out my entire workshop, and rear of the house because I am finally getting the concrete floors done in 2-pak It was so hard to keep the workshop clean with all the concrete dust. I've also got a few more meters of workbench and cupboards going in when I put it all back together again!!

Well, seeing as I can play with my models, I guess I better get posting the last video I took of the Dora, this time in HD I've attached some pic's of that flight. No were near as cracking quality as mud's pic's, but that's cos I stripped them from video.

Thanks

dave

Hi ticketec,

What size tank did you use and what flight times are you getting or projecting with the XYZ 53cc ?
