Thanks

I'm using 50:1 fully synth.
We flew her again today, it's ACE! I got a couple of static shots I'll post later, but she has plenty of power and a good turn of speed, I should be able to keep up with the others now at Fly-Ins !

Hi ticketec,
What size tank did you use and what flight times are you getting or projecting with the XYZ 53cc ?
Joe

I used the kit supplied tank which is about 550cl, averaging about 8-9 min flights but I haven't been monitoring of late.. That is with plenty of throttle being used, and there is still a little fuel left in the tank, but not heaps. I have an 8 odd minute flight uploading right now. It'll be finished uploading in about an hours time. (it's taken over 9 hours so far[X(])
It's now had about 20 flights and every time the engine seems to getting stronger and stronger. I have in hand a carbon 22x10 prop to try on the XYZ, but I will take the cowl of first and tweek the needles to make sure I'm getting the maximum out of it first. To be honest, next time i go out to the field I'm not going to take the Dora because it's been the only thing I have flown in the last few months[X(]

Thanks

Hi Stick
Nice work on the canopy. I'm still waiting on the retracts and canopy cylinder I ordered from VQ early Nov, apparently sierra made the cylinder as a custom order - thought they were a catalogue item
. Such is life, this way I get to see you and Ticketec's progress to learn from
. Still not decided on the wheels yet, although I picked up the SDSH spinner you suggested - seems to be a good match, thanks for the tip.
Hey Ticketec,
Do you still have the first gun cover you made? If so, and it's functional, I'd be interested in purchasing it from you - my fibreglass skills suck[:-]
Cheers Bruce A

Hi Bruce,
Well, looks like stick is going to hook you up with a gun hood, but if you get stuck, let me know because my first gun hood is still here just sitting in a box, so you welcome to it.
Hey Mud,
You've seen the videos Of my dora? How does your compare speed wise? Most of the low passes I do in the vid's are at full throttle.
Thanks
dave

Hi Dave,
I would guess it's about the same, it's certainly MUCH better than before [8D]
I'm looking forward to some practice with it over the next few weeks.

About 60-70 degrees. I have set it up mechanically so that I could have 90 degrees but it's most definately not required. Even at the 60-70 odd degrees for full flap as I have on it now, you MUST carry power all the way down. To be totally honest, the greaser lands have been somewhat hit and miss for me, because if you slow her down too much she'll bounce on touchdown. What I have worked out that is giving me the landing I am after is full flap with 2-3 clicks of throttle all the way down, a pretty steep approach can be made that way, and then maintain some power until your 2" or so from the ground and leveled out, and then chop the power. Don't try a flare her out more, and don't try and 3-point her in. wheel her on and let her touch down when she's ready and it's happy. As you noticed on the video I was working the throttle to adjust the touchdown point, and to compensate for the blustery conditions as well.
Thanks
dave

Tic,
I found mine balloons pretty hard with flaps deployed, I have since put a mix in to compensate. Does yours do the same?

How are you guys hiding your tank vent lines? Do you just have them dumping out through the bottom of the cowl or fuse?
