kahlog,

Great spinner!

I have a spare pair of correct Swastika stencils sized for Red 3 that you are welcome to if they fit your intended scheme. They represent the largest version applied to the FW during the war. They were taken from the Crandall book . Send me your address and I will mail them out!

I have had great luck with the APC 20x8 E prop and will stick with it . Speed is lower but flight time has jumped to 8 minutes at reasonable speeds with a few high speed passes. Vertical performance is just right.

Regards,

Doug Andre
Doug,

I am happy that 20x8 is working for you, but do not be affarid to try a 19x10 once you get comfortable with the plane. Your flight times will get even longer, max speed will increase and vertical performance wount suffer.

Thrust me, I know what I'm saying

@ TA152

You better check those engines of yours, one seems to be faulty !

Gang,

I wanted to let everyone know how great it has been doing business with Tomas at  V Q Warbirds.  I bought everything I could from him for my ESM Dora project.
I recently had a problem with my Sierra tail retract and Tomas had it resolved in short order.   Please support  V Q on your next ESM project.

Regards to all,

Doug Andre

Ramstein, you should take some pictures outside, and send them to ESM.

Is VQ dropping the Sierra retracts for the D9? I do not see them listed, now that the electrics are on the site. I will be in need of another set of the Sierra's and honestly, it is easier to get them from VQ. Then I know they are in stock.

Ram, That does look really sweet and you chose one of the best schemes for sure. It is too bad that ESM did not choose more "mainstream" colors, as very few Doras had the red bottom. Not to mention a little market research would have revealed you either love the JV 44 scheme or you hate it. I fall in the Latter group.

VERTICLE GRIMMACE,,,

We are strong SIERRA OWNERS and SUPPORTERS.. IN fact we just added SIERRA ESM P-39 GEAR and replacement Nose Gear for those who just need a nose unit
to go with their ESM OEM AIR GEAR...

I think you may have missed them:

Ramstein,
your FW-190D looks very good with the new colours! What servos do you use for the ailerons?

Thanks gents. Kwik, I'll have her out this weekend weather permitting. I'll take some pics then and send them.

Prekin, I ended up using 5645mg. They're digital and programable and have a higher torque rating then the 645 mg.

I normally use the 645 mgs but I had a bunch of these from another build which was put off and didn't want to buy more servos. I'm sure a lower rated servo would work well.

Guys,

Try not to sweat the maiden flight on your ships.   The flight characteristics are so friendly both on the ground and in the air.  You will be amazed.
I found no tendency to tip stall  anywhere in the envelope.  The flaps are super effective and do not really upset the plane when deployed .
The specified elevator throws will be a little much for scale flying but fine for test flying.  Even ground handling is superb with no tendency to tip up on the nose.   I expected a wicked torque reaction on takeoff but experienced virtually none.
I have flown many heavy warbirds that make you work for every flight but this one simply does not count.  Just consider it a nice looking pattern plane!

Regards,

Doug Andre

Hello everyone,

I was looking around to get the landing gear for my D9 and I ended up with 2 choices. both are elec retracts made for this plane but with some differences. do you think the light version can be enough?
Scale version
http://shop.lindinger.at/product_inf...ducts_id=91342

Semi scale version
http://shop.lindinger.at/product_inf...ducts_id=91346

I noticed that retract system aside, the legs are not the same size neither are the wheels...

Any toughts?

The smaller are for the smaller A model.
And I have to agree, if your budget can do it, go with Sierra

What wheels did you use, and where did you get hold of them?

Hi P47pilot,

I used the ESM retracts and wheels (aluminum ones) and just buttered them up a bit with plasticard and a few bolt heads. The valve is a 12ba brass threaded rod, decals (rub downs here) as part of a set by Flightline Graphics.

Thanks for the tip!

I got hold of scalewheels from http://www.glennis.com/germanwarbirdgallery.htm. Nice and scale, with diameter 5 1/4". This however seemsslightly too big for the wells.

Did you have an issue with the wheel diameter of 5 1/4" being too big for the wells, Ram?
