Actually, my last flight I almost lost all elevator control. Huge elevator flutter. I was able to get it on the ground only by luck without much damage. Upon inspection I found that the crimp on the cable slipped which made a bunch of slack. It was my own fault. I double looped it through but I guess my crimp wasn't good enough. It was my own fault. I normally use pull pull on my planes and this was the first problem I have ever had. Just remember to double loop and crimp good and tight. Also, make sure there isn't any slack. That will give you flutter. Just don't make it too tight as you can ruin your servo.
Glad you got it down. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of those little crimps! I used larger cables and soldered ends on them, and I'm still a little uneasy. Never used cables on anything but a rudder every now and then. You loose the rudder, as long as it doesn't jamb, you can get it back. Loose the elevator, you're all done
I did use the ESM cables between the rudder and tail wheel, and guess what.... after taxiing it around, the cables loosened up. Cables were doubled up, and wrapped thru crimps two times.
Finished up wing tonight, just need to make some sort of light weight shield to keep wing air lines and wires from getting mixed up with tail servos and cables, put new ESC in it, and balance it.

Guys, I know this has been covered, but what spinners are you guys using. I bought the Miracle spinner from SDS, and can not get it to balance because the retaining bold hole is not centered. Also the spinner was loose on the backplate. Fixed that with some aluminum tape, but the un-centered bolt hole is another story. Have been going back and forth with SDS sending videos and such showing the issues, and they continue to tell me it fine, just balance it. Its meant for gas, not electric, that's why you have problem....its fine.
My patience dealing China products and lack of product support is wearing thin. Yes I would have bought thru US dealer....if I could have found someone who had one
Went back and re-balanced it with no spinner last night, so hopefully I can get some flights on it this weekend (Maiden)
Anyways, besides the Miracle spinner, what spinners are you guys using? Guys with Miracle spinners, any balance problems?

Thanks Dowmer
does it say Miracle on the backside of the backplate?
i just hogged out the center hole, and did a little tweeking with a mallet to get it to spin true. Lots of weight to get the balance statically, but it's still not right dynamically. It's flyable, but will likely wipeout motor bearing prematurely as it has a rumble mid throttle, pretty good WOT, and low end

Ragtop,
no there isn't any names or anything. It has nice machining and the back plate fits well. Price is right too.
BTW, here's a pic today flying at the field with the ESM Dora. Great day! Now that I have the CG and other things figured out, this plane flies like a sport plan and slows down real nice for landings. I love it.

Mine is 3 years old, (they changed the standard ignition unit that comeswith the engine by then) and Has been running great ever since! It has taken a lot longer time to bed in than what I expected but it is running quite strong now.
I flipped my Dora onto her back after a wild cross wind landing a few weeks ago, and so will have to replace the prop, so I'm going to try a Zoar 22x10 this time. going out to buy it tomorrow, so should be able to give you some figures from a run in engine by next weekend.
When she flipped onto her back there was some very minor repairs to the cowl, but the fuse split apart at the seam from the fuse extension plug to about 3/4 up the fin. The repairs on the tail are complete now, after I cut a section of fuse out so I could get my hand in there to apply some glass cloth to the damaged areas and then hysol the seam back together again.
Thanks
dave

Flight report
After a year, finally got the maiden, and a couple more flights on the Dora today. The initial takeoff run was slow as I wanted to see when the tail came up, I wasn't holding the tail down, nor did I lift it up. The smaller ESM Anton tried to shoot towards the moon on its maiden, and needed lots of down trim, wanted to avoid that here. As luck would have it, rolling down the field, the tail just starts to lift at the same time the mains do. At this point I roll in some more power, as it's not going very fast, and push the nose down, as it wants to climb. Took half the available down trim, and that was it, everything else was good.
Flew a few circuits and one touch and go first flight. Flaps are very effective, and add lots of lift and a bit of drag. Touch and go had some power in it and was smooth as silk. The 2ndlanding approach was over the trees and short turn to final. I pulled the throttle all the way back and pushed the nose over, aiming it at the end of the field.
Glide rate is perfect for this kind of short approach! Plane gets to the end of the field, pull the nose up and it just settles on the mains in about 30' nice and smooth. Next landing was normal glide in, and it needs a bit power with the flaps down, but touches down oh so easy, nice and smooth.
Have to thank Dowmer for the heads up on putting the CG at 150mm. Plane fly's very nicely there. Landings are very easy, three landings, and one touch and go, no hint of a bounce, just settles down on the mains. I imagine pushing the CG aft, this might be a little harder to do. I don't really see this plane wanting to be three pointed. Could probably do it, but I bet it would be ugly 9 out of 10 times....for me anyways
It seems very happy settling on the mains and letting the tail come down on its own
Second and third takeoffs were fine, tail came up, increased the throttle and some right rudder, and it went right down the middle of the field, textbook take off...no problems
Mine is electric, my biggest single electric to date, and it is sort of an experiment for me. I like the electrics on big twins, but I was missing the engine sounds as it flys by....its too quite, and it uses a lot of batteries. I'm using double packs as I want to take it easy on the 25C packs, plus added flight time. The three flights averaged around 3.75 ah used in a 4.5 minute flight. Batteries were warm to the touch, and landed right around 3.85 volts per cell. Motor and ESC were cool to the touch with a recorded ESC temp of 89.7F.
Setup is Rimfire 50cc, CC160HV, two sets of Gens Ace 4000, for 8000mah 10S setup, APC 21x13E around 26-27 lbs (bathroom scale's not too accurate). Download numbers show straight and level flight 7865 RPM at 3500 watts, which is a 96 MPH prop speed, maybe 80-85ish plane speed. During the vertical of a normal loop (with some momentum), it was pulling 4460 watts at 7517 RPM. Has crazy vertical....it just keeps going up pulling 5351 watts at 7121 RPM. The only negative thing it did was a pretty nasty snap at the top of the vertical as I started to roll out. Its a warbird, not supposed to be doing that anyways. Plan was to put a Rimfire 65CC with a big three blade running 12S, but decided to try this first
No video as we had technical difficulties (forgot to hit record) Maybe next time
Now I just need to come up with another spinner

Thanks Guys
Gene did the spinners for my P-38 with custom backplates....great guy!
Duplicator, any pix of his spinner on this plane? I have to go back and read thru this thread again, but I thought Ram posted pix early on and didn't like the way Genes' looked on this plane. Of coarse there's the joy of drilling and tapping
