Default ESM FW D-9

As much as I said I wasn't going to get this one but wait for the 109 G-6, the minute Tomas sent me an email that the doras were in I woke up to find myself punching the complete transaction button on my paypal!!! Damn them! I am weak and could not resist. Sorry... I have a condition. PS this does not hinder my intentions to get the G-6

Before the moronics begin, these are merely detail shots off the web of Plastics. Can hardly wait to see what Ty will fashion for this one.

True that, just trying to save everyone a little eye strain. Now 55 DLE or try to go big electrics and preserve the cowl lines...

why electric? a little for-thought and a nice gas engine can be hidden.

You're correct, without going electric, you won't hide anything in that cowl. I've found big electrics to be rather nice. Clean installs, no deadsticks, and clean and simple to maintain.

Depends on the size of the final cowl I guess, hate to break up those clean lines. Love the sound of a fuel burner though. I know they make sound generators but...

... but it takes a 5 cylinder IC engine, at least, to not sound like a lawn mower Some powerful electric setups can sound pretty good without any extras too.

dunno man, with the right pitch 3-blade prop & a gas 2-stroke engine.. sounds pretty authentic to me.
& the D9 was a inline Jumo engine.. not a radial.

i'm also pretty sure a 1/5 scale Dora will enclose all of a DLE55 except for the spark plug cap. I also know D&B engines used some very-low profile spark plug connectors (basically a bare plug connector w/o any insulation around it) that may be able to be retrofitted to the DLE ignition unit. I know yall are probably saying something about RF interference, but with 2.4ghz its not an issue, and i used to run that D&B style connector w/ 72mhz FM (not PCM) w/o any issues.. so just another thought to add to the Go gas!

How does the Laser sound? Anything must sound better than a single cylinder...

LDM, I hear ya, but the red does not bother me at all. I guess because it served a true purpose and is historically correct. Keep the German gunners from shooting down their own planes that were trying to protect the vulnerable 262s. Too bad they don't offer this in the primer version for all of you who wish to change it. I guess the older I get the more I appreciate Hi-Vis

I would love to see documentation of what the pilots thought of the red and or the guys painting the planes . Can you imagine the feeling of painting that scheme on such a menacing warbird .
I know it served a purpose and was needed , just wondering if they ever documented comments from the pilots or maintenance .
As stated Manfred , still a sweet looking bird !!!!!!

I've ordered one of these and will be going with this version with a little modification. I personally like the stripes, makes it that much easier to see!
