We got a decent half day of flying weather today/ Temps were fine, but wind has been blowing pretty hard. Got 2 flights in before it got blowing hard. One of the guys took some inflight pics, so we'll see if they turned out later. That DLE-55 still hauls it around pretty fast. Fun flying bird.

Local photog Glenn Baker just sent an inflight pic of the Cat. Very sharp photo.

I've always liked the modifications you did on your model. I assume it's easy to see up in the air, too?

Thanks, LIfer. Yes, pretty easy to see. The more sun, the brighter she is. The black anti-glare panel seems to set it off. Always little things to add or improve on. Like Dave Platt says, "You never really finish scale models, you just quit working on them."

this is done with model masters paint and will be clear coated with lustre coat semi glossy clear....after application of painted insignias and weathering. A low cost alternative to the zirolli at 1/6th scale. I bought the more scale shorter nose cowl.

Ram-bro, I wouldn't really pay too much heed to the NO FLAPS thing. I always use them. I've had a H9 Hellcat without flaps and wish I had them more than once.

In fact, I removed the flaps off my WH F6F after I covered them and made them dump MORE than they came with. I wish I had used some Fowler flap hinges to really drop them down! They work OK, but could use more deflection.

One guy has a Ziroli Hellcat at our field. I like it. It's really big. Weighs 35 pounds at least, maybe more. Flies great though. The WH is a good compromise on a fun fly F6F without all the problems of hauling a bigger model around.

Guys and gals, I am offering my version of the Hellcat for sale on RCU. This is a local sale and pickup. So, if any of you are interested or know someone who is, there you go. I have her listed at $2150 ready to fly. The thing that makes this one pretty special are the Sierra retracts. They are just about bullet proof. No problems at the field with these retracts and that makes all the difference in enjoying your time or hating it. There is nothing more frustrating than retract problems. She flies great and is a thing of joy and beauty.

Hello all!!

I have to start with this Hellcat and I would like to ask you if you think that will fly the Hellcat with a Saito FG-36 with authority?
I have an DLE55, OS55GT and MLD-70 twin but I am finding an scale fly with this beauty!

Many thanks!

Best regards,

Aitzol.

As I remember it, the choices were a 55 with a slightly longer nose, or a G-62 with a shorter nose. In my opinion, a 36 cc engine would be very marginal.

Hello!

Thank you for the answers. I have this question because I have the Saito 36, and when I weight the Hellcat, I saw that weight near 5 kg without nothing.

I want 4 stroke noise and Will see some engine like Kolm 50EZ V3 or Moki 50cc. Of course, I am seeing to electrify this beauty.

Best regards,

Aitzol.

Hello,

I continue thinking on the power plant, if electric or gas. If I am going to electrified, then I Will put on an AXI 5345/14, but if I going to gas I am between DLE or OS, or maybe purchase an Saito FG-60R3. Do you know any engine of 4 stroke that can fly it well? What about glow multicilinder, like UMS 7-70, maybe very heavy for the Hellcat firewall? Sorry for the many questions.

If finally decided to electrified the Hellcat, I Will put on an Sound module like benedini ones. A final question, where can I get a lighting navigation System?

Regads,

Aitzol.

In ref. to the sound system.Go to motionrc.com and look at the " MR. SOUND " sound system. I have one in my big p47. sounds great and loud. You don't have to cut holes for the transducers.

that looks excellent with the 3 blade prop. What are you powering it with and what are your expected flight times?

I am very happy to see this thread is still alive. I bought a wrecked WH F6F a couple of years ago and I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Like Aitzolius' mine too will be electric. I have used a Rimfire 1.60. I have added the inboard flaps and am fabricating a radome for the right wing. I will try to get some pictures posted soon.

Aitzolius, for landing lights and sound systems try www.lakemicrosystems.com his stuff is rock solid, I have it in several of my planes.

Best regards
Paul
