I am thinking 1500. All that remains to be done is to paint the insignias on it

Hello, all!

Well, I don´t have real datas about the power and flight time of the AXI 5345HD/14, but seeing the page of AXI, they talk about 7500gr and 11000gr depending of the propellers that are between 20x13 and 22x10, saying it, I can go with it about 5 or 6 minutes of flighs time or so. Viewing other owners of this AXI, I see that many had problems of timming with the jeti spin 99, and I am thinking to buy the 125 spin or maybe the 200 spin. We will see.

About the navigation lights, are in the way with the other accesories that I hope come here this week. And regarding the Sound module, I will go with the Mr. Sound´s one. I am thinking where to buy it, surely will buy in the UK. Because customs cost.

I will like to see where Installed you the lipos and how in the Hellcat, will be great help.

Best regards,

Aitzol.

Yes, very sure that Tom is out of the RC business. He was thinking of following the Hellcat with a Spitfire, but the economy slowed down, sales slowed down, and his wife passed on, so he called it quits. This is my understanding of the facts, so, forgive me if I am wrong on a point or two. For a smaller investor, the costs of making a Hellcat or similar is a bit high, plus the shipping cost of the models in a container, and it's a load of work for not all that much profit. I think it took Tom a year to sell one container, that's a long time to wait on a return on investment. Big houses like Horizon and Great Planes, etc, can better absorb those costs. ARF's have gotten so expensive, I will be building from kits and plans for the most part. Once I get the CARF P-51D done, I will move on to a Meister Zero.

Hello,
I received all accesories and installed the e-retracts after modified a little because were slaightly diferent, the struts were shorten than the originals. The tail retract no needed any modification because the installing holes and the rest length, etc. were exactly the same than the original.

Best regards from the Basque Country!

Hello,

After installed servos in the wings, I back to the fuselage and finished installing the rudder.
Also mounted the varioprop spinner but I think is quiet big for this Hellcat.
Continue with the proyect thinking in the decoration.

Best regards,

Aitzol.

Hello,

Currently I am with other projects, finishing the ESM LA-7 and now I am building an Hobbykeller MiG-3 kit.

To finish totally with the Hellcat, only need to buy some good 5S lipos that I am looking and need to renew my chargers...

Best regards,

It has been a while since I posted anything here. I'm about finished with rebuilding a crashed Wild Hare F6F I bought a few years ago. I really like this plane and have slowly been putting her back together. I'm sure glad I bought the new cowling when I did instead of waiting till now. If anyone has a clear canopy they would part with I would love to buy it.

After all the repairs were made I stripped off all the plastic covering and added 3/4oz fiberglass cloth applied with Minwax polyurithane. I also built four new flaps. I have decided to build her out as an F6F-5N, but not the 20mm armed version. Here are a couple of photos where I an today.

Paul, looks good, it is something original. Wish I woulda thought of something like that. I had the same problem with my canopy and it sucks that it is tinted. I wish I could come across a replacement myself. I replaced my cowl with the shorter more scale version. How did you handle the stringers on the bottom of the fuse? We may have the only 4 flap versions out there.

Ram-bro, I have a friend who has a Byron Originals 1/6 Hellcat Canopy and a vacuumform machine. Problem is he is in the middle of a move from Idaho to Washington. Probably be late in February before his shop is operational again. But, we will be able just not soon. Also do you know Dynamic Balsa has scale cockpit kits that will fit. I bought the short cowling, I thought the extended one looked dufas. I decided to leave the stringers unsheeted. I did build a fiberglass panel around the tail wheel opening.
Besides the additional flap I installed a working tail hook. We have a carrier event every year. Mostly we fly 60" foamies, but figured its time for some real airplanes. From what I have seen on youtube and what the guys say here this plane has real fine low speed handling qualities.

Attached is a picture of my gear. Is it the same as yours. They look good and work fine, but I can't identify them. They look somewhat like the assembly manual. When I bought the wreck there were two sets of gear with it. I would be interested to see how you attached your gear doors. I haven't got it figured out here yet.

I gave up trying to make fiberglass doors I used some aluminum and PCV plastic to attach it to the gear struts.

You went further with your detailing than I did. I didn't do the gear doors. The retracts are the same as mine. I hear mixed reviews on them.

Ram-Bro, I also have a problem with the way the tail wheel is mounted. Sitting on the bench the tail of the airplane is only 1/2" off the ground. Since the unit can be disassembled I think I will machine another vertical shaft and lower the wheel another 1/2" to 3/4". What say you. Is yours a concern also?
