Here is the how the wings look when against the stops Mitch adds at Down And Locked. They are at a very good looking angle, and very even.

Now, they do not pinch the hinge door in the center, or the front hinge area, as you can see. They now have a hard stop to go to.

These mounting bolts were drilled and tapped only AFTER everything was glued in position. Absolutely no binding and everything is beautifully aligned with minimal margins. This proved to be a good way to go.

On our ARF, these were not glued in straight and a bind resulted. That is why we had the sticking in the down position.

Another benefit of the electric wings is that the actuator is easily removed for hand operation while building. No hydraulic lines to worry about.

The wings will be together and all the electric system will be operational and ready for the video maybe tomorrow.

PLEASE HELP. I had to share the last of my Micro Balloons with Brian. I used to buy a 12oz bottle at the local hobby shop for less than $3. Apparently, Prather is no longer selling these. Any of you out there have a good source for Micro Balloons? Looks like another building supply I will need to turn to the internet for. This sucks.

Gary,
Try and get ahold of Merlyn Graves. Somewhere I remember him letting us know where to buy the stuff in sort of bulk. But I don't remember where it was. He used it a lot on the starship. Made the exopy turn brown.

Gary, Found it...........

http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...6&PN=1&TPN=138

Here is where he gets it,

http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/Prod...s/fillers.html

Merlyns starship page 138

Here is what merlyn suggests,

The mix ratio is about 3-4 to 1 by volume. You need to mix enough balloons so that a glob will not fall off of your mixing stick, but you still want the mixture to have a glossy look when throughly mixed.

I bought from http://www.aeromarineproducts.com/ the last time i needed micro ballons and milled fiber. $16.00 for a half gallon bucket seemed reasonable.

Thank you guys.

I could not believe the price jump at the LHS. Last time I bought it, it was $2.89 for 12oz, and now they want $5.00 for 4oz!!!!! Ridiculous.

I did find some at Tower Hobbies last night and ordered it because it was so much less than the LHS. But these sources you guys have are much better still.

Wayne, this is a great resource. http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/Prod...s/fillers.html

They have all kinds of additives including Milled Fibers, for making strong fillets on glue joints.

I saw some interesting material from West Systems as well, that I'm going to try.

Thanks again for all the posts guys.

It looks like some of the challenges for the Prince family in 2012 are already taking form. This little guy is back in the hospital having a bone biopsy, an MRI, and getting the cast back on. His little leg is broken again, and now there is real concern. Mom and Dad spent last night at the hospital with him. He was on a Morphine drip. []

For better news, THE WING IS GLUED AND READY TO TEST. Brian is putting the motors back in now. I'll be going over for the first tests and video this morning.

Will have it posted for your consideration later today.

Gary,
I'ved used West Systems 410 filler for years,, IMO it's the lightest and most sandable filler on the market, not very expensive either
http://www.westsystem.com/ss/410-microlight/ some example of me using it in this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10852874/tm.htm

Should be on the shelf at any Marine products store, like West Marine,

I get home on the 4th, I can send you some to try if you can wait that long
good luck

Hey, thanks for the post. Have you tried the 407 material. Says it can even be carved.

I'll look for the 410 around hear.

Safe journey home my friend.

Not that I remember,, when I was in my early 20's I worked on boats,, we used many diffrent blends on fiberglass repairs, I've used the 410 because it so light and so sandable.

Either would be good I'm sure

Slight delay on that video. Found a small problem, but we came up with a simple fix. With the wings all glued up, and even with the updated hinges on the leading edge, the top skin hits then. To the extent that a notch is necessary. We decided to simply add a piece to the fixed side, to mirror the notch on the outer panel. When down, it will not be noticeable, and no complicated movable cover will be needed. You have plenty of material to do this from pieces you have already cut out. Never throw this stuff out till you are done building.

We'll have that video in a day or so.

I picked up the blue nav light Brian made up for atop the aft fuselage. Need to get that installed before the cockpit goes in. The one in the tail is easy to get to from the tail doors, and can go in later.

Here are some pictures of the top and rear nav lights, and the boost tab I referred to in an earlier post.

Update. Blood work negative, bone and marrow work on the vertebrae negative. The doctor said that in over 30 years of Pediatrics, he is baffled by this, but he is determined to get to the bottom of it. At least he doesn't have Leukemia. Another day and night in the hospital, and gets a new cast tomorrow.

Gary I will send up a prayer also I sure hope he gets better cause you aren't getting any younger and we are gonna need the next generation of fliers pretty soon. Be sure when you read bed time stories to him that you mention Down and Locked in subliminal ways so as to ensure that when he is older he becomes as good a customer and friend as you and Brian. lol Mitch
