Yea, he was very appreciative of everything we did. I could have kept it longer and made it more complete in exterior detail, but looking back, I was glad to have turned it over to him in this way, with a nice support team of friends around us, a wonderful little model air strip, and a great test pilot in Dino to handle those first couple flights. I don't think the circumstances could have been better. Having a company like Condor there was icing on the cake. What a fine way to document this event.

Gary , once again you guys nailed it, despite the logistical nightmare you had to endure with you're truck and all.
Dino continues to amaze , only he would do a 3 point carrier type landing on the maiden flight !!! Outstanding !!!

This thread will be ongoing as well as we are heavily involved in making many of our creasions for this model available to other modelers. I may be continuing with other builds of this Corsair as well. I always have requests. Just yesterday I received requests for quotes or conversation on 3 builds / build completions. A completion of a CARF Corsair, a Meister P-47 build, and.............a build of an all wood 1/4 scale 16' WS B-25 with (2) 250 Mokis!!!!!!!!! WOW!!! That would be something to see in an aluminum finish. This was just yesterday. This is in addition to the projects already under way. Wish I could set up shop for full time building. Just not there right now.

All my work will be as much an open book as I can make it for the entertainment and assistance of my fellow modelers. As always, thank you all for your support.

Thanks pappy. Yes, Dino has an amazing way of 'feeling' out an airplane in just a few short minutes. He is able to tell right away what it is capable of. If he had not been comfortable with the way it was balanced, he would have opted for the safer wheel landing for sure. He never showboats or goes beyond what would be a scale maneuver on most all WWII type aircraft. That is what keeps things under control as well. Very disciplined in his approach. A good example for other pilots to follow, and a joy to watch.

Gary, That is great on your possible future projects.

The B-25 would be a blast. I have my heart set on a once in a lifetime build - Don Smith 146" B-24 Liberator. Once I get a good idea of all the cost put together and have finished a little research I want to order the Kit. It would be a dream come true to get it all together with rotating turrets, lights, cockpit, bomb bay, the works!

I have to wait and see about a possible move from Utah to Texas then get settled and start the project.

Products used on this latest build include the 50 oz Roto-Flow fuel system, Electro Dynamics Nano Batteries (A123), two of the programmable Hitec 5685MH servos (cowl flaps), Klass Cote epoxy paints, and the Down and Locked 1000RPM motor and control for the canopy. All these items worked to perfection.

On the cowl flap servos, I like to use ones that I can program. The Hitec programmable servos work well for this. You can reverse one, as you need to, and also slow the speed down.

Also note that I moved the servos down. This is to clear the guide pin I have epoxied in the fixed portion of this cowl, right above these servos, for the split cowl option. I found that moving them down a bit gave plenty of clearance for the cowl above.

I want to publicly thank Gary and Brian for the wonderful job they did on my Carf Corsair! They are a pleasure to deal with and there dedication is second to none. They always go above and beyond any build they do. If you are fortunately enough to get them to to a build for you, you will not be disappointed. I consider it an honor to have a Prince Aviation built Warbird in my hanger. Thanks again guys!

Here are some pictures of the work on the pilot. I couldn't post them as I worked because it was a surprise for John. The way the Premier Pilot is designed makes this fairly easy to do. I yoked the pilots head to the tail wheel servo. I had to cross the cables to the wheel so the head moved in same direction as the rudder.

The O2 hose is flexable so it can move as the head turns.

HI Gary, just found this thread as youtube alerted me to the canopy mods. Can I asked a question please , on the down & locked Linear movement did they design a -start/stop reverse option?
I had purchased one for that very purpose but typically they need an ebridge for start stop reverse ??
I ended using a firgelli linear servo because I could not figure that part out , any help is greatly appreciated ,

No advantage IMO. I prefer cables for long runs such as this, plus, cables are far easier to cross, as I needed to on this set up.

Yes. The Down and Locked drive part of this system comes with a control box like their gear system has. It takes care of cut off at both ends and reverse. I'll post some more pictures that include showing where I mounted that part of the system.

I received the parts from Mitch literally 3 days before I needed to be 500 miles south at the maiden event. I didn't have time to do a proper documentary of what I designed and the install. I also want to point out that I built in stops at both ends on the track so that there is no load / stress on the canopy itself at either end. This is important to avoid a visible warping.

One technical note, you will notice the smaller servo arm setup on the pilot. This is to get more movement on his head. He is connected to the tail wheel steering servo which I install up front under the cockpit for easy service and CG concerns. This servo has less travel than the rudder servo, so I needed to add differential to the linkage. I could have added another servo for him, but this was simpler in my mind.

On the subject of CG, this plane came out perfect in my opinion. Single elevator servo, steering as noted, lights in the tail, very light but efficient tail gear door setup (no air), and a fairly complete cockpit with articulated pilot, and still, no additional ballast needed other than this, the cowl ring was filed to capacity with my epoxy / steel powder mix, and I used some behind the baffles to strengthen them up, and I used it in the epoxy when I glued the plywood firewalls on, that is it. The rx batteries are right behind the firewall which proved to be all the additional weight we needed up front. As you can see from the video, a nice 3- point is possible with this CG, which is 1/4" in front of the main spar. The tank is also in front of the CG.

This is interesting. Could be another option in adjustable pitch props for our Moki engines. I also like all the options in prop blade shapes.

Click on 'propeller size 32i'. That is the one for the Moki engine.

Very cool Gary , I don't think ive seen that 2nd video before .It showed the intakes and brake backing plates I made for you , a proud moment for me .
I still have the mould and prototype for the brakes .If your interested I'll give them to you .
